I am currently a Verizon customer and my current plan is ending soon. To continue with Verizon, with a main phone and 3 additional lines it will cost $59.99/month for 800 daytime minutes, free nights and weekends after 9, $19.99 each additional phone (total 119/month). AT&T also costs $59.99/month with 900 daytime minutes, free nights and weekends after 7, and $9.99 each additonal line (89.99/month). So, AT&T is cheaper, gives more minutes, and has free calling available 2 hours earlier (my family is coast to coast). AT&T LOOKS like a better deal money and minute wise, but will I be happy with customer service, calling areas when traveling, reception?? Also, AT&T is recommending the G4015 as a good family phone. Will I be happy with it? I don't need bells and whistles. Verizon is recommending LGVX3200. Thanks!
Go to ATTWS their customer service is great now. Remember that ATT is merging with Cingular wireless so if you cant pick up an ATT signal and a Cingular tower is in the area you can access that tower.
When I look at the AT&T map on their web site it's very sketchy in many areas. I thought AT&T and Cingular already merged. Maybe the sketchy map is just AT&T and doesn't yet include Cingular coverage yet. I've also hear that AT&T customer service is great and others feel it sucks! Hopefully the service has improved. Thanks, warriorfootball9!
Well they have finallized the deal but the government has to approve the transaction. What you could also is take advantage of the trail period. If you dont like your service simply return your phone.
Warriorfootball9, I thought of using the trial period as a test. The only downside is if I want to switch back to Verizon I loose any preexisting customer upgrades (which aren't all that great).
well you could just get a new number with att and then see how it works. if you like it request to have your number ported over from verizon.
I could be wrong, but I dont think it works like that. You either port from the start or take a new number. Other than price is there another reason you want to change from Verizon? Are you happy with their quality of service? Also, do you travel alot?
coalminer, Verizon service has been fine, but switching AT&T saves me$30/month, 100 extra minutes/month, and nights start at 7 p.m. rather than 9. My husband travels on business maybe 5-6 times/year to covention cities, we vacation once a year on cruises out of Miami.
I was just curious, I played with an AT&T go phone a few months ago to try the service ( because that is what us wireless geeks do!!! ) and was pretty impressed with the GSM network they built in the Cleveland area, there was one area in a remote part of Geauga county that I camp at that there was no signal, but other than that, everywhere else I went the service was good. Were you planning on porting numbers over or just getting new ones? Also where do you live, I might be able to give you more info.
I live in Hudson, but my son's soccer takes us from Medina to Westlake to Lodi, Eerie, and Columbus. I was going to port 3 numbers and get a 4th.
I live about an hour south of Cleveland in ashland. If you travel around the whole state, stay with verizon. Verizon's network is much more built out than AT&T and Cingular's network. If you do stay with Verizon, the LG VX3200 looks like a good phone. Also, AT&T and Cingular have a huge coverage hole over by Tiffin and south of Toledo just in case you go there. Let us know what you decide.
I didnt know about that coverage hole over there, good to know. Since you were going to get one new number anyway, maybe get one phone, use the trial period to try out the coverage, and then port the other 3 numbers over to the account.
Well, I did it! I switched from Verizon to AT&T. Got 4 free Samsung x426 phones. If I'm not happy with the phones or the service, I can make changes within 30 days. Thanks for all your advice!
I live in Streetsboro. Does your son play at the Pinnacle Sports comples in Medina? If so you will get great coverage there. I go there for Baseball. (Brownlee's) Hope everything works out for you. I have the Samsung X427. Its the same thing as your phone but the models numbers are different because of the providers.
