Andy....do the maps still show "partner" coverage in the holes near your area still....or do they show no service?
Cingular basically shows great coverage all across my area even though phones roamed on T-Mobile a lot when it was still allowed so I can't really tell you...nothing has changed on the maps. I found one area outside of town where T-Mobile has coverage but Cingular does not and it still shows partner coverage(which isn't accessible anymore) so that hasn't changed either.
Does anyone know of a coverage map for 1900 only coverage with Cingular? I can only find coverage maps for 1900/850. Thanks
It now shows 3g coverage for the NYC area. It looks like they forgot about Long Island, Brooklyn, Queens, and well..everyone other than Manhattan
Actually, half of Manhattan shows coverage, and then portions of the north and south of Queens, and there is some in the White Plains region, plus Jersey City in NJ.
There are so many BSC's in NYC and the routing is so screwed up it surprises me that they put out any maps.
Just thought to examine Route 84 near the MA-CT border. The Cingular map shows several points of Best to Good transition. I have dropped calls many times while driving through here. Not Good by my definition, but perhaps by theirs.
Just in case anyone wanted to know, they have now put this on their website for anyone to access, not just business customers. They did this last night, you just click on the coverage Maps link and it will take you to the new map.
Cool, thanks. I notice that you can choose to see the 3G overlay (or not) at the higher zoom levels. I don't remember that being there before, but maybe I missed it. Also, they haven't "smoothed" the data at very high zoom levels, so you get these block shapes that I'm sure aren't that sharp in reality. Here's my favorite major intersection (Rts 2 and 95/128 in Boston metro) where I still sometimes drop calls in 3G.
They added that when they updated the maps on May 30th. I can't wait to see all of OC, CA blue. But with as slow as Cingular is updating maps it may already be blue. I am kind of getting the ich to go back to GSM with the Tytn just released and the upcomming Motos. But I want HSDPA/UMTS to be around before I do.
Budney, interesting how similar our tastes are in devices. I was just looking at that myself, sounds really impressive. My area has abosolutely no "blue" and will not until late 06 or early 07, so like you I want to wait on getting a UMTS device until them and hopefully the prices will come down by then. I am glad the map is now readily accessible for everyone, for my immediate area it is quite accurate too....
Gee it's funny they picked "Blue" for this coverage, maybe a hint of a future Blue company again. :lmao:
