Cingular is rocking in new york we are adding 125,000 customers so far we been open in New York.Just 3 months look out Verizion and Sprint.
isnt it funny how people compare their carrier to others? Its like youre comparing your phone. Me I'm just happy to have a provider (cingular) that doesnt screw me every month on my bill, and i have good call quality. As far as my phone...that's different...
I don't know. I see a lot of pro-Verizon people (a few that are gutsy enough to identify themselves as employees, but most that just post "anonymous") on here. They're usually the same people that are anti-Sprint. Also, there's a pretty good pro-T-Mobile following in some boards. Personally, I've always been a happy Philly-area Cingular customer. I respect that Verizon and Cingular are equally good in my area, and the other carriers seem to lack behind on coverage.
Well, first of all, the Wall Street Journal (see post in another forum) said T-Mobile has the highest complaint rate in the industry. I think their customer service is probably decent, and their plans are nice (no free nights though), but their total network footprint is way behind even Sprint. There's no way they could thicken their network to match any other national carrier anytime soon unless they merge with Cingular or AT&T or sign a free roaming agreement with one of those carriers, once they build out their own GSM networks. T-Mobile doesn't already have towers in place. Cingular/AT&T just have to upgrade their current towers for GSM.
RITMarketer "We've been told by our management not to worry about Verizon, the big ones to compete against are Sprint and T-mobile" Im lost, why would they tell you not to worry about Verizon? Is it because we are too big to actually try to catch up to? If that is the case, that is one stupid way to go about business. Im also curious why they tell you to worry about Sprint and T-Mobile? I would think that they would want to compete against the biggest, not the smaller companies.
I work in an Agent, so the corporation can worry about Verizon. Our company says that we should try not to sweat verizon because really, they have more to offer than the company we're representing. Just try to differentiate by offering better customer service and try to stop people from making the mistake of going with Sprint or Tmo in this area. If I were Cingular corporate and could make a difference, I'd take shots at Verizon, but I'm a sales rep at an agent, so not much is in my power. P
Just to let you know that big news will be coming from Cingular in Jan,2003 wait we are going to rock!
Rasputin I was going to say the same thing lol! John Doe, you are really just complementing T-Mobile! Crane is right, why bother fighting over this. Sure I am pro-Verizon due to the nice prepay plan, nice CS towards me, and the fact they have not ignored Delaware like most carriers have. But I always acess the situation and have recommended every carrier here to people.
Let's repeat the mantra, all together now: Cingular Rocks! Cingular Rocks! Cingular Rocks! Cingular Rocks! Cingular Rocks! Cingular Rocks! Cingular Rocks! Cingular Rocks! Cingular Rocks! Cingular Rocks! OK, I think we got it now.
Sorry I have not been checking the thread!! Cingular Sucks! oops I mean Cingular Rocks!! Cingular Rocks!!
Verizon..........yes they are the Largest now.......but could we see some mergers coming in the near future from ATT and Cingular???? Will Verizon still have the largest foot print?? I think yes. Verizon is not one to stand by while they lose money to others........Cingular is good in some areas............but GSM will hurt them. ATT as well. Screw all of this.......who is that company that makes satalite phones??? They have the best coverage of them ALL!!!!
errr, that wasn't Matt... That's just another person who happens to be using the same icon as him... lol... look at the username again
And........T-Mobile has over 353,000 subs in the CA/NV market...probably will have over 500,000+ by the end of the year. We had to send ericsson back to the drawing board for higher capacity RBS's and MSC's.
Having worked for Cingular(sounds like a prescription drug doesn't it?) as a CSR for a 13months Having happily left for greener pastures in 2001. The turnover at our Call center in Springfield IL. would make a Mcdonald's Mgr. blush!! In a location with nearly 700 reps, there were only thirteen people that had seniority over me! Anyone who lasted over a year was considered an "old timer". I could go into the horror stories, the consuming public are by and large electronically challenged to say the least. The company didn't help matters any with some of their business practices, like delayed billing on the National rate plans, People getting billed in their current cycle for calls that occured 30-90 days in the past! talk about people going off, I actually had an idiot call in once and complain that they were unable to use their phone from the bottom of the Grand Canyon, you know they rented the burrows and rode down to the bottom of the canyon and then wanted to call a buddy and say "guess where I am" and were mad because they had no signal, I guess hundreds of feet of sandstone and the fact that the Feds generally don't allow Towers in national parks. As far as rocking, just read a news release that Cingular lost over 130,000 customers in the last quarter, has layed off over 3000 employees, restructered the sales compensation programs for dealer vendors and company owned retail locations(which if what you hear and see on the internet is any indication caused a near revolution)Ya I would say they are rockin allright, rocking towards oblivion, the major carriers are moving towards CDMA or GSM and away from TDMA, and Cingular lags along always 8-12 months behind the leaders. Lets not even get into the phone availibility at their locations, Have you seen a color screen model avail at cingular? They have new major competition in the form of US Cellular, T-Mobile adding to the pressure they already feel from Verizon, Sprint et al. I think if they don't merge with AT&T or some other mid level carrier they will continue in a decline that already has started. So does Cingular rock? Well if you mean sink like a rock I would agree.
Yes Cingular in DE is crap now. Overloaded crap and they have not increased coverage. It was much better when it was Cellular One. -Airb330 at school
Cingular Rocks? I think you meant Cingular is Rock Bottom? If you live in metro Los Angeles you'll know what I mean. Sorry
Or if you live in Orange County, CA... or travel in the Mendocino area... or the Boulder Creek area... or.... just about any beautiful spot here in CA. No bars, no calls. Now, my friends with Verizon and with ATT have had signal in *all* of those places, and I am getting juuuuuust about fed up enough that I might jump ship soon...... /Chris
I can't think of anywhere in Upstate NY where Cingular's service area bests Verizon. Service area is the only thing that matters.
