So now that orange is on the way out and blue turned orange....does orange and blue make green? Guess we need a Green AT&T logo...... Can you say confused....the old AT&T vs the new AT&T. Different company sort of ....but same name. Guess those old AT&T customers will still have to migrate to cingular first and pay the migration fee.
Wirelessly posted (Walkguru's: Nokia6682/2.0 (3.01.1) SymbianOS/8.0 Series60/2.6 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 UP.Link/6.3.0.0.0) So what will the color be?
I do think Cingular will work on getting as many people that are still Blue customers go migrate over (they did away with the migration fee last year) and may give people some incentives to migrate over before the merger gets approved to prevent too much confusion. I am hoping they will do this and maybe offer to let me stay with my current min. plan just give new phones & SIM's at a good price, guess we will find out sometime in the next year or so.
Maybe the new logo could include a phoenix-like creature rising from the ashes with Ma Bell's face on it!
OK, can't take credit for this, got this from the other forum "Wireless Name Contest" posted elswhere in WA. I believe walking guru put this in, but saw it and though it would fit perfectly in here. Just wanted to give props to Walking Guru :uppoint: :uppoint: :uppoint:
That's right. haha! I had forgotten about that one. I have to change the blue ball to the new at&t logo.
I think that one sounds great..not very likely....but interesting in light of whats seems to be rebuilding.
I don't know if this is a good idea on AT&T's part. They should know that att wireless had a bad reputation among its customers. When people that left att for cingular before the merger find out that they are going back to the att name, it may leave a bad taste in their mouths. They might leave for vzw or sprint.
In my opinion one of the reasons why anyone was unhappy with AT&T because the party was over and the freebies were no more. I was with AT&T and it is no secret that part of their demise was they gave the store away, and when the end came nobody like it. After last year I learned that the wireless carriers are in business to make money and are not to concerned with whether the customer is happy or not, I did not see Cingular kicking my door down to stay when I left. So the way I see it we cannot change what is happening, I too am concerned about the future but it is what it is so it is best to just live with it or move on. And again this is just my opinion no negatives intended.
I kinda disagree with that. People leave a company because of poor service, not because they are switching names. If AT&T Wireless left a bad taste in your mouth and you are happy with Cingular today, what reason will you have to switch away from Cingular if it changes its name to AT&T Wireless and the service is working good for you?
I agree with bobo, only the service count not the name. But with Cingular that gives plenty of reasons for switching: - Dropped calls - Network busy - Poor voice quality (with SE616) - Voice mails that come 3 days later (sometime even a week) I'm an ATT customer, got a family plan at $60 tax included 2 years ago, that's why I'm still here, if I have to switch to a new plan, I'll switch carrier (ie Verizon) Cheers!
This is what I came up with. Same concept as the old logo from the old AT&T Wireless. I just put in the new at&t logo and font:
well the issue is that I know a lot of people that switched away from att to cingular about a year or so before even talks of the merger showed up. They hated att wireless. Many of them don't know that the call quality and service they received wth cingular will remain with att wireless. Once people are dissatisfied with a company they rarely go back. A lot of people just don't know any better.
A brand name is an Identity. It's also a strategy process. It never ends. The name could be the same for ever. But the company needs to change the way to communicate the brand over time. Why? Because customer needs change over time. You can build a reputation. It takes money and time. Lots of money. Public relations. More money. Advertising. Training your staff. More time. Advisors. Surveys. Focal groups. More money and more time. More advertising. Sponsoring events. Charitable and community events. More ads, money and time. How much you think Cingular has invested in the brand? Now ATT will change his Cash Cow name. A remote, spontaneous and isolated decision???? Cingular = feels like USA. ATT = hmm!, feels like worldwide. I'm sure ATT will launch wireless services internationally under 1 brand. So, let them build a new reputation. More money, one more time.
Maybe they'll mix a tinge of orange into the font/lettering or the background itself. @wgray: I don't think SBC wants to keep the Cingular name anymore. The main goal of the merger is to combine all of their assets under one unified name. I find it very amusing that this is changing again. But that's Corporate America for you. A lot of people don't know this but Vodafone started out with another name in 1985 for example: Racal Telecom. How's that for an interesting name ? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vodafone
You are right on that.. And let's also mention that one of the reasons that Cingular is so good right now is due to merger of networks. not because they were that much better then ATT.. In fact, in all areas where I have lived, ATT was always the better of the two..
I'm interested to see what the new logo is really going end up being. That'll be for another two years.
How about keep the globe and make it orange instead of blue the AT&T in blue lettering. As far as mergers go, look what happen to Sprint Nextel. they are still having problems they are not even in the same book as each other. Service went down ever since, employees leaving, customers leaving. Some companys make a smooth merger, some don't.
You know that's interesting you point that employees are leaving. Maybe that's why they remodeled the cafeteria in the DC area HQ. I can just hear the discussion in the boardroom now... Sir, the employees aren't happy. They're leaving. It must be that damn cafeteria! You know I wanted to remodel it 2 years ago! Get on it immediately before we loose any more employees! -Jay
Could be right there. But you know how it goes. the worker bee employees are usually the first to see the hand writing on the wall so to speak when things start going south. I don't know if they are leaving in droves or anything like that but i did hear that has been quite a few departures here lately from Sprint Together with Nextel and not just lower level employees.
Yeh so with this merger the only thing that has changed is the name.. Since the AT&T-Bellsouth Merger and rebranding of Cingular the only changes I've seen are those unlimited m2m txt packages and the Unity calling plans.. Phones have just recently began being rebranded but that's about it..
