http://onlinecare.cingular.com/coverageviewer/ Look up the following places with the coverage viewer: Lewisburg, WV Afton, VA (Nelson County) Both of these locations used to have partner coverage. What happened? The situation in Afton, VA is totally understandable, I can live without having good service on that mountain. But having no coverage in all of Greenbriar County, WV leaves me puzzled. It's home to a very large ski resort and the congressional hideout. Not to mention I-64 carriers a lot of traffic headed west over the appalachians. Why would they drop coverage? Perhaps Cingular is close to launching their own network soon in that area? Anyone have a good guess?
I just noticed that partner coverage was dropped in all of Bland, VA as well. (The buffer county between Wytheville, VA and Bluefield, WV)
It could be they couldn't come to a reasonable roaming agreement or Cingular is going to put up towers in that area, Cingular does have a license in VA so that is a possibility, not sure about WV though.
hmmm... looking a litle deeper at the suncom site..........North Carolina, South Carolina, and portions of Tennessee and Georgia... close but no cigar but I hadda look at cellularone... its them...
I live in Covington,VA and I have coverage in Lewisburg and White Sulphur. I was just there a couple of days ago. not all of Greenbriar County has service with any carrier because of Green BankObservatory.
yea... coverage is sparce with any carrier. if you had service and you were in lewisburg, then the coverage map is completely wrong. glad to hear that there is service too, i'll be rolling through there in a few weeks!
