Hi, Does cingular have better coverage then Verizon. Do they cover more area as they mention no roaming. Is that correct. What shoudl I choose Cingular or verizon or sprint covergare and customer service wise.
I honestly do not know. I do know that with the nation plans you will never recieve a roaming charge. But, you would rather stay on Cingular's network as much as possible for esaier access to voicemail, and text messages. Hopefully someone will now how Cingular is in those areas.
In your area, only a person with a Verizon phone can tell you who has better coverage. However, from a nationwide point of view, Verizon has a stronger network than Cingular. This doesn't mean in a particular area this will be held true. In my area both are equally good in coverage. However, Cingular rate plans seem more attractive than Verizon's.
From my experience in Harrisburg/Philly/DC (not specifically Baltimore), Cingular tends to have better rural coverage than Verizon. In the suburbs/cities, Verizon tends to be better as it does not oversell it's network as much as Cingular does. Keep in mind a few things: Cingular is currently TDMA in the area, not GSM. Cingular's customer service closes (I think at 7PM), and Verizon's is 24 hours. The second point is why I dropped Cingular's service in favor of Verizon. -MVL
Verizon's is 24 hours ---------- Cingular's hours are 7am through 9pm Monday-Fri . and 9am - 6pm on Saturday. AT&T Wireless advertises 24 hour customer service, but perform 'system maintenance' between 1am and 7am (hogwash).
Just a couple of comments. I got help at Cingular customer service after midnight. Also, I have had no trouble with Cingular voice mail over 500 miles from home.
AT&T performs "system maintenance" between 1am and 7am? LOL!! Another word for BEING CLOSED!!!? Cingular Voicemail: If you can dial your own cell number you shouldn't have any problems with voicemail nationwide.
