I noticed as I drove by the 2 Cingular corp. stores tonight, they have the same logo in the window's & it's on the Cingular Ad. in the paper. I also noticed a bunch more different & updated commercials during both playoff games, as I am sure most everyone else here did. Now to see how & when they change Alpha tags. Does anyone know why they didn't go with all Caps in their name? I was kind of suprised at that since the way I think of AT&T is they would be cap letters for each word they stand for, especially the A.
I have not been near the store for a few days now. As to teh Caps, that was part of the defrenciation between the Old and New. SBC wanted the name but wanted it to look diferent and they did the same with the logo.
OK now I understand why they did it, but still think it doesn't look right. Guess I will get use to it just like I got use to the Cingular Name & every other company name change out there. The globe isn't that much different though, only a 3D version vs a flat globe, guess they will eventually come up with something different, if they have a problem with people's perception of the New at&t.
remember the word new wil have time limitations. I think the longest they can take that is 6 months after that it has to go to just plain Cingular is at&t. that is if they dont acquire something else and then still have an excuse to use the word New.
I have gotten so used to seeing "cingular", that when I see the word "singular" it almost looks misspelled
I know what you mean, It took me a while when they came out with the Singular asthma drug to remember to spell it differently and now there is a singular web site that belongs to wirefly. I guess they figured out people mis-spelled it alot.
that fact that the merger occured and then they planned to begin full-blown integration only a month later is proof enough of that
Though the notice to the public is immediate, Ed W. has declared that the implementation of the change needs to be controlled, monitored and "steady." He feels in time it will resolve itself when customers come to associate the old Cingular wiht the new logo and name. There really is a whole science & psychology behind marketing, branding and public awareness. I can cite to you movie stars that had a very bad reputation but putting them in situations where they all of sudden look good and continuing to stream that to the public, eventually, opinions change.
yep that def true............."you've got to have this" is one of the first things marketers learn when they get educated
It makes a lot of sense what you said here, I am sure as they have been doing it little by little & it seems precise on how they do it, that people will start getting the idea it's still Cingular but under a different name & it's not the Old AT&T, that had a bad reputation with a lot of people.
Hay, any one noticed that we now know the internal and legal name for the Wireless Division of at&t. It is burried in the financial result in this previousley quoted link http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/070124/clw007.html?.v=73: The first set of results table: " AT&T Mobility LLC (formerly Cingular Wireless LLC) Income Statement Amounts in millions (unaudited)" and the second set: "Selected Financial and Operating Data for AT&T Mobility LLC (formerly Cingular Wireless LLC) - amounts in millions, except customer data in 000s"
i gues we were all wrong.........we must have misinterpreted it because what they probably meant to say was that they would keep the AT&T brand unlke something along the lines of Cingular and the mother company is SBC and BellSouth..........it keeps the brand but differentiates the branch
I think there are a couple of reason's for this, 1st would be to keep track of which department is doing what, even though they are the same & 2nd would be for legal reason's making AT&T Mobility LLC keeps it protected if something were to happen to AT&T Corp. I don't know if AT&T South is a seperate LLC or not, but I can understand the reason for the wireless end being a seperate corp. I have to get a picture of the new Billboard they put up in town, with the Cingular is now AT&T, it's pretty neat looking & different from the ones in the ad's or on the stores.
pretty good reasons.........very fair.......and i think i would like to have a separate name for it too........makes it easier to understand but there is a difference between AT&T Wireless and AT&T Mobility..............shows those people who had a bad past with AT&T Wireless that there is new management in town
3 letters too long.........:lmao: ........but then again........nobody ever did say Verizon Wireless or Cingular Wireless or AT&T Wireless.........it was always just the company name
This is so funny, they basically replaced the words "of any wireless carrier" with the words "the new at&t"
It makes you wonder "Why" they dropped the "of any wireless carrier", maybe their lawsuit with T-Mobile has caused this?
yeah........there are prolli only 3 Cingular billboards in the whole Greater Reading area.........they havent changed but the commercials have changed
Sorry if this has been posted already but, I found this on DSL Reports a week or two ago. It's not 100 percent accurate but, pretty damn close and I think its kind of funny. Its about Cingular/at&t http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bj1Mtv9cD0I
May not be all that different -- but it necessitated repainting every vehicle in the company. Well, not the helicopter -- that never had a logo on it... :browani:
I guess someone out there got a good contract to paint or decal these vehicles, keep the money flowing for the smaller guys. I am suprised they haven't put a huge globe on the helicopter, free advertising for them while the executive's fly around the area.
awh, you guys are mean. I actually like the logo. Nice 3D effect, easy colors. What more could you ask for?
