I am pretty illiterate when it comes to things like this, so bare with me. :)

I just got a Strawberry Chocolate a few days ago. I don't really feel like paying for V-Cast (Haha, yes, I am cheap.), so I bought a SD Micro card thingy to download songs from the internet and play on my phone. I have spent the last hour and a half trying to figure it out, but for some reason I can not get the songs to show up. For example, when I stick the Micro into its holder thing than into this thing that connects to some port (I think USB or something like that) into the computer (TOLD you I am not smart with these things.. :p I know the thing that connects to the port works though, because I use one of the slots in it for my memory card for my camera), the files show up. When I stick it in the phone, it says nothing is saved. Soo.. Here's my question. Do I have to buy VCast, or am I doing something totally wrong? Thanks SO MUCH for reading all that, if it made any sense at all.

First question for you...did you format the card in the phone? If not, you have to take the microSD and put it in the phone and format the card.

Then (and only after you finished that first step!!!), you can take the card and put it in the microSD reader (with the USB thingy) and download ONLY mp3-formatted songs onto the card into the My_music folder.

Once you've done that THEN you'll be able to hear the songs on your phone...

    Make sense??

Did you buy a VZW Music Kit with your SD Micro thingy? Its necessary in order to sync your phone with Windows Media Player 10 to facilitate Mp3 transfers to your SD Micro thingy.

I don't think you 100% need that kit to transfer music over.

If it's .mp3s you made on your own (from your own CD) or non-protected, then you should be able to move them over without any problems.

PROTECTED .mp3s *might* require that kit but I dunno about that.

you are correct that you don't need the kit. I've never gotten the kit and am able to drag-and-drop mp3 files right onto th SD disk.

This is a kinda old thread, but anyway. You don't need the music kit. Just a card reader. A couple of things I learned about the sdcard and the Chocolate. Be very carefull taking it in and out. It got a little stuck one day and I tried to pull it out and cracked the card in half, they are fragile. Also, you cannot have a long song name in order for it to play. If you copy the songs with song names longer than I think 30 characters (say you want the album name with the song or som other naming convention) it will not play. Mine works great now.
