I know that this is a motorola forum, and I own the 710. my wife has the
LG vx6000 which I liked very much. However it did not have the features of the 710, nor did the 7000 or 8000 model. However check this out.

Looks like LG has a phone coming that will compete :D

Well, it DOES have BREW, and it looks like it's running VZW's bulls**t proprietary OS, so...we might be seeing this sometime soon...

On the one hand, it's good to see VZW FINALLY embracing Bluetooth - and it's nice that LG is finally getting away from the "big rectangle" design, realizing that, yes, style is appreciated - this is a sweet-looking phone. On the other hand, I can't wait to see how VZW will cripple the BT and miniSD card.

It lacks one important feature that is important to CDMA reception. I would not get a Verizon phone without an extendable antenna.

I don't think that is as important as you think. My LG 6000 did not have the extendable antenna either and it got he same reception as my 710. At least where I live. :D

Korean CDMA phones don't use extendable antennas that much anymore. Late 2005 and 2006 CDMA phones for Verizon don't have extendable antennas anymore either.

VZW doesn't have an OS, they do have specific GUI requirements though. The good news is Verizon is overhauling the look and feel they want. Moto phones for Verizon will be getting a new menu system this year that will probably please a lot of people.

My VX4500 doesn't have an extendable antenna and it gets the same or better coverage as my wife's Nokia 6015i which does have an extendable antenna.

Hmmmm.... could this be why they just today discounted the V710 further? (to $99). I got one just this morning, for FREE :p using my NE2 $100 credit.

I wonder if we'll be able to upgrade the V710 software to the new menu system... long shot I'm sure ;) I don't mind the UI on the V710 so far though I've only had it a day. Just turned in my trusty old V60i ! And it certainly is MAJORLY better than the LG 6100 menu system, which I had for two days and returned today - ugh, hated that phone and it was buggy as heck.
