Is there a way to change the picture on the caller id screen of the Verizon Razr V3M? All my other Verizon phones I was able to but i can not find the option on this phone.
Which image do you want to change? When the phone is open, or when it is shut? One is very easy, one is very difficult.
Probably the one that is very difficult LOL I want to change the picture on the front of my phone when it is closed. My financee has a Razr from Cingular and his screen is whatever the wallpaper on the inside is.
It's okay, these forums aren't exactly designed very well The one you want to change is, of course, the harder one You are going to need to perform what is called a seem edit. Basically, Verizon disables certain features on our phones. What we can do is load up the phone's "seem" files, and turn these thigns we want back on. It might sound strange, but Verizon does this consciously. They literally have to have their techs change it from the way Motorola designed it, so their customers cant use it the way it was intended. They do this on many other features as well. Anyways, you need two programs and a usb cable and the usb drivers to do this. And what it will do is it will just shoiw whatever your wallpaper is, much like your fiancé's phone does. Keep in mind, it will squish your image down to make it fit in the small screen, but you ca at least give it a go. Do you have a usb cable? And if so, are you able to get it charging on your computer when plugging it in? Let me know where abouts you might be in your endeavor and we can go from there.
I have the USB cable. Not sure what you mean am i able to charge it on my computer when plugging it in.
When you connect your phone to the computer, it should charge the battery. It will only do this if you have the drivers installed. If not, you will need to do so to connect your phone to certain programs that will open up the features you are looking to do. You can get your phone connected by referencing this thread -> http://forums.wirelessadvisor.com/razr-phones/59219-getting-your-v3c-m-connected.html
OK im alittle confused. Last night my computer saw that new hardware was detected and V3c was detected but was asking for me to insert a cd (which I don't have), so I couldn't continue. Never asked me to "install" anything.
Ok, you need download that drivertool4.21a file I attached in that thread I linked you to above. Once you have downloaded it, you need to run it. Then connect your phone tothe computer. It will bring up a box (probably the one u saw asking about a cd), but you should see a button you can select that says something like "let windows auto matically choose", and click ok/next. And then it should auccessfully install your phone as a v3c. It wont say v3m. Once u have done that, let me know. You will know it is correct when you go into device manager and u see the phone listed as Motorola USB Modem under the modems section.
Ok, go here and download the two programs: Motorola Software Updater & P2K Seem Editor Since I have done a walk thru helping someone, I will point you to the process. Follow the posts from Post #24 to Post #33 Once you have that completed and have P2k seem open and connected, let me know, and I will walk u thru the rest (there would only be about 2 more minutes of work left). The hard part is done
Well, u can, but that is for another day (if you ever get a program called MPT - motorola phone tools) it will let u add your own ringtones, pics, videos, etc. But again, Verizon disables that on our phone, so we can re-enable it, instead of buying ringtones from the get it now service like they want you to think is your only option. At any rate, ok, in the Seem box, type 2742. Record box, type 1, Bytes box (above the other two) type 0000, then hit "load from phone". It will load up a whoooole bunch of gibberish. What you need to do is, look to the table below, sort of the lower left corner, and look for something called "offset" followed by some numbers, probably 0000. What you need to do is, click on row 0090000 (or something similar to that). You should then see the offset value change. We are trying to get it to show Offset 0094. Once it does that, it will show Bits 0-7. Box 7 is what we are going to UNCHECK. Once you uncheck that box, hit Save To Phone. It will ask if you are sure. Say yes, and it will INSTANTANEOUSLY save to your phone. Once done, close both programs, and restart the phone, and it should now show whatever your wallpaper is, as you background. Just make sure that you double check that it says OFFSET 0094, and that u uncheck Bit 7. There might even be a description next to the box saying, (graphic/ orange). If u ever want to go back to how it was, just do the same thing, but check the box back to on. Let me know if u have any problems.
Yea, here is a site with the info: http://www.mark.cdmaforums.com/E815-V3C-Popular.htm Just interpret it the way I described...there are 5 parts to each seem edit Seem Record Bytes Offset Bit As long as you pay attention to each one, you will be fine. Good luck!
Thank you so much for your help. Have you ever heard of a SEEM edit to change the red bar (border on top/bottom) BLUE?
Nope, but if u look at my signature, u see I have flashed my phone to Alltel's firmware. It uses the Blue Motorola Interface, but that is quite an extreme hack. For now, Verizon users are stuck with the red bars
I'm sorry for bugging you with all these questions, i've been trying to follow other posts from you and i have a quick question. I SEEM edit my phone for MPT but how do i access it?
You need to buy the program. It is like $25 and you can download it right from the net and start using it.
does this work for Alltell firmware?I completed my flash (THANKS TO CIN!!!) and I dowloaded an awesome iPHONE skin and i want my LCD(when open) to display my background, now all i have is the Alltell logo any help?
Yea, that is the iPhone skin I tweaked to work for the Alltel v3m. The original designer over at motox designed it for both 9 and 12 icon menus, but I went thru and switched a few things. The fix u have been reading about is to change the lcd image when the phone is SHUT. To change the image while the phone is open, use either BitPim or P2kcommander and browse to a/mobile/alltel.gif If using BitPim, you can OVERWRITE that file with the iphone lcd image of your choice. If using P2Kcommander, find the iphone lcd image you want, rename it to alltel.gif, then copy it to the a/mobile folder so it will overwrite the existing file. There u have it.
I used to be a motorola tech a few years ago. Just kidding...I work for a roof truss design company engineering roof and floor systems. What's funny is I had never modded a phone til I got this razr back in july.
dude for some reason the alltell lcd picture aint there no more , now I have a motorola one... i replaced the alltell.gif with what i want but it wont work
you need to make sure that the picture you are uploading is a 96x80 .gif (not .GIF) image. It cannot be a jpeg, it cannot be an animated gif, you spelled it wrong as alltell.gif, probably just a typo, but make sure it is spelled correctly on your phone. sounds like u used p2kcommaner?
uh oh. I read that i shouldnt delete the original gif and I did!!Maybe thats why it aint working!! Plz tell me theres a way to fix this w/o needing to re-flash. (also another smal question.. i wont use get it now and crap, is it smart to disable EVDO? Will it affect my signal? Cuz i found an edit to use ur razor to connect to the internet http://www.hacktherazr.com/guide.razr.net.html )
Maybe this is a stupid question, but what about a model V3? I would like to apply these same edits to my old V3, but I don't see a thread for that... am I not looking hard enough?
