I want to change the faceplate on my LG VX6100. How hard is it? I am a housewife and don't want to get in over my head.

Can anyone give me instructions on how to do this? I have been searching everywhere for step by step instructions on how to do this.

Can anyone help me? Or supply a link with detailed instructions?

  2. I'm not entirely sure but I know that it involves one of the six-sided "star" screw drivers. It's not that hard to do although I'm not sure how to do it all.

But anyway. If you get those faceplates changed would you be interested in selling the original faceplate to me (provided it's a verizon branded one?) Just wondering, mine's cracked major and I need a new one. PM me if you could help. thanks, and hope you find exactly how to do it.

No, I do not want to sell the original faceplate. Sorry. I haven't gotten up the nerve to make the change yet (grin). I may have to buy that special screwdriver. Thanks for the info.

Changing faceplate on LG VX6100 - an update

Well I did it. I finally changed the faceplate on my LG 6100. Despite my being apprehensive about trying it it actually wasn't hard at all. And everything still works (GRIN)!

For those interested this is what I did (thanks to others for instructions).

First open the phone and remove the four rubber covers hiding the four tiny screws.

    Next remove the screws.

Third, this is the hardest part and it wasn't that hard at all. Carefully with your fingernail or small tool (I bought a plastic pry tool made especially for this purpose) separate the old faceplate from the phone. There are five clips that you have to pop. Two on each side and one on the bottom. You will hear them pop

Remove the old faceplate and replace with the new one, snapping it into place in the same five spots.

    Replace the four screws.

    Replace the rubber covers.

And you are done. Make sure everything is working.

That is it, you are done.

I was so afraid to do this and was worried about speaker wires and things. But it wasn't an issue at all. If I, a housewife, can do this...anyone can.

Thanks to all for your support and help.

No memory will be lost for just replacing a faceplate.
