I have decided to change from Alltel to Verizon. Currently have a family plan (4 lines) 3 are up in Sept and the 4th carries for another 6 mos. I have nothing against Alltel, except the monthly cost @ 160. I have found that we text as much as we call and the circle doesn't really help that much, for our situation. So two questions. First, any reason NOT to switch to Verizon? They have free text to anyone on any carrier. Second, any problems with changing from a family plan Alltel to a single line for the duration of the 4th line? The other motivation is a healthy work discount changing to verizon. THanks
If you will receive a discount from your employer, that may be a good reason to switch. Also, coverage would be another big player. If you decide to switch, make sure Verizon works in all the places you go to most. Since Verizon and Alltel both use the same CDMA technology, you shouldn't notice a difference if they've both built out their networks well in your area. Personally, I would always recommend Verizon or Alltel to people that are looking for cell service in my part of Michigan. CDMA technology just does it better around here. Next, if that fourth line is going to stay on the account, it is completely not a problem to change them to an individual plan.
I think it might be referring to the "Select" and "Premium" plans that VZW offers...both have unlimited messaging included for all lines on the account. My mom and I share an America's Choice II Select plan so we each have unlimited messaging to anyone.
You should verify with Alltel that splitting off the one line won't reset that line's contract, since it will now be essentially a separate plan.
