Cellular South will be building about 200 new towers to Mississippi this year :speechles
Cellular South will build over 225 towers across the whole network ;)

That should give them near statewide coverage in MI.

They have many towers as of June 2006 going to be built according the to the FCC tower registration filings.

I thought Verizon was going to buy out Cellular South. Along with the T-Mobile aquisition of Suncom and Dobson. And Cingular getting Unicel.

Those deals at this point are all speculation.
Most are hoping that Suncom does get boughtout ASAP. If T-Mobile buys them that would be a perfect fit. If Cingular buys they may have to sell off some airwaves and Suncom's customers and network out in the Caribbean. Alltel might buy Suncom also.

Few rumors circulate about Dobson, but nothing strong yet. They have spent allot of money on airwaves they don't need not much in new markets. Cingular, Alltel could be the buyers. Since Dobson is mostly a cellular network and T-Mobile has never owned a Cellular license in the US, it will be interesting to see if T-mobile will do the buyout.

Most people see Verizon buying out Cellular South since it is a perfect fit. Cellular South is a private company so they may stay where they are for a long time.

Rural Cellular may go to Cingular, but I won't rule out Alltel, or even Dobson.

Dobson is currently going to buyout Highland Cellular.

Another provider Centennial Wireless announced a year ago they were looking for a potential suitor, but nothing has happened since.

I don't think any of that will happen. I have been contracting with CS for a while. They are currently building a new office complex in Madison. Verizon just rolled out on some other license. I actually am on verizon but it roams to CS most of the time outside of the main cities.
CS also holds an unusual array of licenses throughout their coverage area. Somce cellular, some F, D , B and C block PCS. This makes it less attractive to larger operators. They are also upgrading sites and building redundant links along the coast. Not really the sort of thing that an operator will do before a change of hands.
