This happened back in Jan...I just came across the article. It also includes video of the collaspe. Cell phone tower collapses in Wellesley - Framingham, MA - The MetroWest Daily News After the video plays, look at the related videos for a few other videos of the fire.
At least they could rebuild the tower, and put COWs there in the meantime. But unfortunately, this tower had not 1, but 3 carriers on it. :coolshade Wonder who they were... I looked up the location of the tower, near the Wellesley Travel Inn in Framingham, MA on Google Earth, and found the geographic coordinates of the former tower: 42.3035, -71.3240 I wonder if the tower has already been rebuilt, or in the process, they would have to get a new tower approved first, which could take awhile, and what were the 3 carrier's customers' reactions when they suddenly lost their signal.
This has happened before a few times. I remember another tower once burned at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena.
Towers bursting into flames and burning....thats what they're all going to look like after QAM modulation is introduced into HSPA bringing 14Mbps to your phones ...might see some phones bursting into flames as well...
So, I wonder how far along they are with getting that tower back up again? I think the video of the guy dropping the ladder off the one tower is kind of funny. Stupid on their part, but still funny how the ladder sticks right into the ground.
