I want to get a regular phone like the LG VX-4400 for US Cellular to reduce cellphone bill and get rid of the smart phone. My question are there any specific sellers that are know by you to be reputable. Thanks Radio Tech 1713
Generally, I would just go by their feedback. If it is at 99% or above, you should be fine. Ask them for the phone's ESN number before you send payment so that you can verify the phone can be activated. Alternatively, if you can use craigslist (not sure where in Nebraska you happen to be), you can arrange to meet at a US Cellular store and conduct the transaction there.
A good seller would provide the ESN to you via email so you can check before you bid. If they drag their feet, move on. I've gotten good deals by asking and getting the ESN.
I don't give out ESNs until after an auction ends, but I will always give it out (if asked for it) before payment is made.
You didn't ask me but I will answer from my own experiences. There are scammers who will use my valid ESN to sell another unusable phone.
