Hey guys, I'm thinking of doing a cell phone drive for my kid's school. I've been looking for partners for the program, since we can't recycle or repurpose the phones ourselves. I need some research and found about P4CGlobal and its sister company, Phones4Charity. What do you guys think? Should I go for it?

Not familiar, but would guess it depends what would the kids get out of it, that the school or municipality can't or won't provide themselves?

Yeah, a lot of buyback programs have options for fundraising. What they offer, that the school can't do is that they take care of the transactions and inspection of the cell phones themselves, which frankly a bunch of elementary kids simply can't do. And, there's the simple fact, that the school itself can't simply sell the phones themselves on Ebay and Craigslist. And also under certain tax laws, non-profits cannot simply sell said phones themselves since the money would be considered "under the table". That's why schools and churches and even the Red Cross use programs such as Phones4Charities from P4CGlobal.

In essence, the deal can be considered good for both sides, since it provides both sides with benefits. On the one side, the buyback program will get phones for their inventory. And on the other hand, the charity will get some extra cash for their non-profits and they will also help recycle phones.

Yeah, Bwayne's right. The whole issue is that if we do it ourselves, we'll just end up getting a huge stock of broken/used phones that we can't use just lying around and I highly doubt that we can sell all of them on our own via Craigslist and Ebay.

I mean, I sold some of my old phones on Craigslist and Ebay but the fact remains that this is simply just way too big for us, which is why we are looking for a partner like Phones4Charity.

I would suggest using whatever buyback program you feel comfortable with, but yeah just compare rates on buyback programs since some pay a flat rate for each phone regardless of model and condition.
