When I recently bought a car a Motorola (XF3F19A383AD) cell phone came with it. I thinks it's analog. Does Verizon or AT&T or Cingular have plans for it? Thanks. I'm in the Hemet,CA area. Bill.
Bill, I am not sure but the number you gave looks like a serial number, not a model number. The older car phones are typically analog phones. Though they are activated when purchased with new vehicles, the carriers are discouraging starting up analog service with old equipment due to wireless cloning which can cost the carrier hundreds of dollars. Rather than ask this forum, the only sure answer you will get is to talk the carriers themselves. -kevin
Kevin and Kenny, Thanks for your replies. The cell phone came with my 2000 Lincoln Town Car...which is paid for! (zero balance, that is). Sent questions to Verizon but get no replies, so far. Also emailed Motorola. Bill...
"My father said: 'Son, you're gonna drive me to drinkin' if you don't stop drivin' that hot rod lincoln.'" Boy does that date me!
A Motorola website had info on car manufacturer's phone that is installed in the car. Sounds like Motorola makes phones for at least 10 different cars. (with a phone number for each). Will check forum for various carriers.
