Support for CDMA2000 in AWS Spectrum Bands Announced The CDMA Development Group (CDG) today announced that several leading wireless technology companies will provide CDMA2000 devices, equipment and services for the USA's Advanced Wireless Services (AWS) frequency band. The AWS band uses microwave frequencies in two segments: from 1710 to 1755 MHz, and from 2110 to 2155 MHz. The CDG is pleased to see such strong commitment from the ecosystem to make products available for the AWS spectrum, said Perry LaForge, executive director of the CDG.AWS is an excellent frequency to showcase the high-quality voice, broadband Internet access, television, and advanced mobile data services the technology can deliver. The CDG says that deploying any of the advanced technologies that are supported by the CDMA2000 ecosystem within the AWS frequency band will create a powerful and immediate value proposition for its license holders. AWS license holders and vendors have established a special interest group (SIG) within the CDG to focus on further developing the CDMA2000 ecosystem, including the procurement of devices for the AWS band.
