Yes, with 25% off, I was not going to spend money on shipping either. So it's the slow boat across the US (California?).

You'll also note the the lip thickness (lay on the table) is larger on the rear than the front. This is good.

More like a horse drawn carriage. Lol.

The delivery date shown 7/12 and it's that goofy UPS Innovations. I do hope it doesn't take that long.

So my case made it to Bensenville, IL. An hour and 15 mins from here. It would be interesting to see how long it takes to make the hour and fifteen minutes, after getting to IL from CA, in one day.

Naw, I just stopped your delivery for today ;) JK.

Mine made it to the local Post Office in town, 7:20am today. I don't have info if it went out on the delivery truck for today or not.

With the Spigen bumper, you are going a bit more Naked! A bit risky, so maybe you have sights on a newer phone in a few months ;)

You weren't able to vf. :p

Mine was delivered at 2:09 PM, although I am not home either.

Lol, no actually I don't, in fact I would like to see if I can go a full two years with the 5. My new phone itch has somewhat been calmed by my X.

I have a couple of trips coming up in Fall and don't want to end with problems with a new device.

It all depends on what iPhone 6 offers and also how well iOS 8 performs on my 5.

Got my bumper case and was able to put it on easily and without breaking anything. Thanks for the instructions vf. :)

Liking it so far but still hesitant about putting the phone down without checking the surface thoroughly.

    Super!

You'll overcome that feeling. It has more lay-on-the-table lip on the back than the front. So any flat surface is no more worry than placing the phone face down- something I do a lot with my other cases unless it's a pile of pebbles or such, I don't even think about it.

My slim armor S is just a bit smaller than the non S to make it a perfect more rugged case. But I'm back to the bumper and save the S for other purposes. It's very easy to slip on/off. But noticeably more heavy than the bumper.

Both have great button feel to them.

    Enjoy your case!

PS. Put a straight edge over any two points on the back to appreciate how much clearance you have. That may help.

My Slate Spigen Neo Slim EX bumper. I've been using this one or the Dante Red for a year now.

Has survived drops and kept the rear and front of the iPhone pristine. ;)

My bumper case and I did not get along unfortunately for a variety of reasons. He are some of them.

    1. I hated seeing the "Made in China" sign every time I looked at the back.

    2. The bumper is flexible and not a tight fit - I am spoilt by the fit of my Apple case. I was adjusting it quite often.

    3. The bump of the rim on the back bothered me as I held the phone, I am used to a smooth surface.

So I am back to my trusted blue Apple case. The bumper was certainly worth a try and a good design concept.

Thank you Charlyee! You paid for MY case. I bet my wife $20 that you wouldn't like it after a day or two; she was certain that you'd love it...as she loves her bumper! :) So I won!

You, for certain, have better eyesight then I do. I can't read that font size 1 (or smaller) printing on the back. Although, with a magnifier, it reads 'Assembled in China' , not 'Made in China' ;) (it also says 'Designed by Apple in California'). Maybe time for an eye doctor appointment? ;) Actually, I never, never noticed that the IMEI number is there too, its so small.

My case fitment is really fine on ours. Both of us only had the case partially slip off at one corner once or twice over the year...and then only when it was in some tight jeans. No problem here in a normal pocket.

The bump on the back, is a personal taste, I agree. Smooth is nice, but my other flat backed cases pick up crumbs and junk, and fills the camera cut out with lint. So its a trade off.

Glad that you tried it. Just add it to the dust bin of cases...;)

Aha, now I know why my case didn't work out - you were rooting against it - Lol

Yes assembled in China, my mistake.

I never had your problem of crumbs lint etc.

I have a drawer full of cases and I put this one on top of the pile, chances are I will give it a try sometime again but for right now I really like my blue Apple case.

Now my iPhone and iPad match again.

comparison of the Spigen Slim Armor S and the Neo EX Slim

I received my Spigen Slim Armor S. I have the non S version, and found it a bit heavy in the hand, but mostly the lip was on the short side, about 0.4 mm. The S has a 0.8 mm lip.

No question the lip is more of a comfortable size for lay-on-the- table usage. It feels better in the hand, and is easy to remove and install without fear of breakage, because of the rubber parts. The button response is very natural and smooth. Probably a bit better than the Spigen Neo EX Slim bumper. Also the S has an open front, whereas the bumper covers the front by wrapping around the front edge. Personal preference.

In trying to determine the exact difference between the S and the Neo Bumper, here are the stats.

    Slim Armor S full case:

    10.59 mm thick
    63.15 mm wide
    128 mm long
    0.92 oz in weight

    Neo EX Slim bumper:

    9.6 mm thick
    63.18 mm wide
    128.75 mm long

    0.32 oz in weight.

As you can see, the S is about 1 mm thicker, which is okay, but abut 3x heavier...mainly due to having a back piece.

It is amazing how one can perceive the 1 mm difference though.

The weight is something else, and very noticeable . Again for comparison:

Sena Ultra Slim leather pouch: 0.49 oz
Non S Slim Armor: 1.09 oz
    Neo Hybrid case: 0.78 oz

The Neo Hybrid is just like the bumper, but has a smooth 'rubber back'. Same dimensions as the Spigen bumper, but covers the back.

The Spigen Neo Slim EX bumper is very close to being naked weight wise, meaning it only ads 0.3 oz.

and if you don't remember, here are the naked iPhone 5S specs.

    Height: 4.87 inches (123.8 mm)
    Width: 2.31 inches (58.6 mm)
    Depth: 0.30 inch (7.6 mm)
    Weight: 3.95 ounces (112 grams)

Just for the curious and case nerds... ha!

Don't get too attached to the $20 Vf :D, I decided to give the case another try. With the problem I am having with the sleep/wake button I thought it would help to get a more flexible cover over it than the leather is.

Not sure it is making that much of a difference and I don't want to keep exercising it and expediting a full failure.

I remember that Spigen has dropped the satin color last year. Glad to see it back. With the loose fit you described and the good fit of mine, you may inquire with Spigen. They give a good warranty.

I've noticed over several colors I received in the year, they tightened up the fit. Wonder if you got a bad one. I can't easily force my to side off at the corners. In fact can't do it at all.

I'm not telling my wife about changes on your part. Keeping the $20!

Mine doesn't slide of the corners but more like it opens up from the long sides. I have to be careful taking it out of my pocket or purse.

The other inconvenience is that I am in the habit of wiping the screen with my palm after a phone call and of course it hits the side and separates out.

I don't think I have a faulty case just that both Apple cases are really snug and didn't separate from the body of the phone with my usage.

Anyway I will try it for awhile, leather is not summer wear. :D

Oh. That's normal then. It's does separate but doesn't come off. I always carry a micro fiber for wiping clean- my hands are as oily as my face. Sounds a bit gross but you know my meaning.

I grab the whole phone normally. The lip has saved a few drops too, as a catch.

Yep for summer you want to change into something light and cool.

I get makeup on my screen, which I am presuming is not your problem lol, my palm is typically makeup free.

I am getting used to it slowly, so that $20 doesn't ethically belong to you. :D

No, Charlyee, I don't have that problem with makeup. ;)

Ahh, I know you Charlyee. If I gave my $20 back, shortly after that you would post how you no longer like the bumper and stopped using it.

The 'bet' was that you wouldn't like it within a day or two. Bet won fairly. Makes no difference if you change your mind a week later....

I have a dilemma, on one hand I like having the case that is the newest and looks new, on a new phone, on the other hand seeing how pristine my iPhone 5 was after 17 months, it makes me want to go back to my blue Apple case.

    Decisions Decisions. Lol.

You have to decide. No harm in changing shoes and cases as you feel like on whatever frequency you chose.

My phone is pristine too and has been in the bumper most of the last year. I use the LifeProof for fishing and the beach. And a normal case for a few days to try out. 95% has been the bumper. Same as my wife although she has the back screen on

I went back to my blue Apple Case. For me this is definitely the best case I have had and I have had a few - 13 at one time. Lol

I am sure I will temporarily put other cases on as I have done in the past but I always come back my tried and true blue.

It's kind of ironic since Apple launched the case with the 5s last year September but I got the case 8 months before I got the 5s.

The truly ironic part is that you, Charlyee, like an Apple product more than I do! :)

The Apple case is truly well made, and I have been tempted to purchase one.
Knowing how I use cases, and change them around, my experience with full
cover polycarbonate cases is that they are difficult to remove and eventually I
break them. Fortunately the break is covered and secured by the leather sometimes.

I learned to seek cases that have a TPU portion, if only on the top or bottom to
allow more ease in removal. Like the Spigen slim armor S or the bumper version
(which is not so easy to put on, but works).

I've also read reviews about wear on the leather. I think the soft feel of the Apple
case is great, but it probably wears worse than the wax leather case of a different
brand I had before. Most likely, it wouldn't bother me, since I take good care of them.

The Apple case is pretty expensive, and I'm sure it will tear when I drop my phone
My poly band on the Spigen Neo Slim EX also can get damaged, but its a bit
cheaper to replace. The bumper keeps the heat exchanging back free too, and I
like seeing the clean logo back of the phone. That is a big plus for me.

Anyhow, that is what is great about cases, there are so many out there to add a bit
of 'pop' to each individual iPhone owner.

I just prefer my 'pop' not to be a scratched up metal phone!

Lol Vf, good point. Yes it is apparent the I do like the Apple Case more than you do.

I don't believe the case at $40 is expensive for a quality leather case, the Vajas, Sennas, and the like are much more expensive. I did think the iPad Air version was too expensive but I didn't want to short change my Air by getting a lesser case for it. Lol

As always the exposed Apple logo that you so like, bothers me, it appears blatantly flaunting to me and I much prefer the subdued and understated embossed Apple logo on the back of my case.

I am not sure what givers you the idea that it will split if I drop the phone, I can tell you that it does not. I have dropped my 5 a few times, including couple of times on a gravel road. Other than an minute graze mark, nothing visible and of course the phone was well protected. In contrast to that my Spigen Ultra Slim in satin silver was so scratched after a drop that I had to discard it.

Here's a random description I found, decided to quote it since it's so apt.

"Apple’s case is still protective, though. Beneath the leather exterior there’s a hard shell that feels sturdy and robust. Combined with the leather on the outside and the microfiber lining, it will almost certainly prevent your iPhone from being damaged if you drop it. You may graze the luscious leather, though, so don’t be too careless"

The same article also mentions that it is on of the most affordable premium leather cases.

just my 2 cents or more accurately a few paragraphs. :D

I ordered another blue Apple case, it just didn't feel right putting a well used case on a new phone. :D

I received my case today, the contrast between the two is quite a surprise. I am guessing its a combination of different dye lots and usage.

The smart thing to do would be to travel with the old case I guess.
