i would appreciate any opinions...i am up for my upgrade and cannot for the life of me decide whether to get the 8100 or the razr! can anyone help?
:twocents:The Razr is a very nice phone, and works well. I'm not particularly familiar with the 8100, but I do know that LG's quality varies greatly from model to model, and the more expensive ones aren't always better. Motorola's quality is very consistent between their various models. I would recommend you narrow your search to either a Motorola or a Nokia model. Motorola & Nokia are like the Fords & Chevys of the cell phone world. I consider LG to be like KIA - You can get a nice KIA, but its still a KIA, and I wouldn't trust it. That's my opinion - take it for what its worth. -Jay
My opinion differs from Jay and Ironwalt, in the case of CDMA phones, which is what you are looking at. LG makes excellent CDMA phones, defiitely in par with the Motos and Nokias and better. The comparison between LG 6000 (an excellent phone even now) and Moto T720 (a piece of you know what) comes to mind. I cannot really tell you which one to get because choosing a cell phone is such a personal matter, but don't shy away from the 8100 just because it is an LG. I think I also read some negatives about the CDMA version of the RAZR on this board. Take advantage of the trial period offered by Verizon and see which one suits your needs the best... I am not sure if you have checked Phonescoop but here is a side by side comparison of the two phones. 8100 VS. RAZR Hope this helps....
I'd take the E815 over both of them. I'm not a big fan of the Verizon UI to be perfectly honest. Plus I like the fact that you can enable OBEX on the E815.
I'd have to say vx8100 or e815. I'm a verizon dealer and if you saw the complaints we get on the razr you'ld understand. The software is slow and buggy. The time doesn't update automatically, the reception is not as good (no matter what anyone says), and the battery sucks. My boss threw his against a wall he missed so many calls. I have the a950 which is good but the 8100 battery lasts longer. The best is the 815. nothing beats it. Bottom line
I agree with Skippy. My girlfriend has the razr, and the software is excruciatingly slow. I have the 8100 and have no complaints, especially after getting the Version 7 software installed on it. Reception is about the same on both phones. If you have to have a Moto, definitely go with the E815. The only thing the RAZR has on it is size. I actually preferred the 815's size, though. I've got big hands, and the keyboard was much easier to use on the 815. Oh, and the battery on the 815 blows the other 2 away.
thanks everyone! my last 2 phones have actually been lg's and i've liked them. i guess i was just enticed by the cuteness and size of the new pink razr. i really appreciate everyone's help.
You are welcome. Which LG phones do you have btw, I am just curious. I have had the 6000, 6100, and stll use the 7000.... Let us know what you decide to get and how you like it.
Im with the LG lovers out there. I have my third model (due to upgrades not dissatisfaction) and I have loved them all. I have the 8100 now, and I would totally recommend it. The Razr ( at least here anyway) gets complete crap reception, its flimsy and unstable, the camera isnt as good, and the sound quality blows ( customer feedback, y'all) I would go for the 8100 for sure. Its a great phone, great features. Nokias also rock. Best reception period in my opinion, and some of their new phones have really nice features. I dont think Motorola has put out anything good since the Startac, with MAYBE the exception of the E815.
