I am paying $10/month on my Cricket plan so I can call and receive from Canada. I have a sister that lives in Van BC so I need to be able to be in contact (other than email) in case of emergencies. I spend about 30 minutes a year on the phone to her and $120/year is steep for that. Anyone know of a plan that is cheap (like Cricket) but charges by the minute to Canada? I am fine with a high per minute charge...how could 30 minutes be more than $120!
    Thanks,
    Dennis in Portland

I am not sure how Skype is set up now since Microsoft bought it, you would have to check into it, but they use to have some free calling, using your data and/or wifi. Both you and your sister would have to load the application on your phones. It would be worth checking out.

Skype-to-Skype calls are as free as before. Skype-to-phone calls take money, not sure how that used to be as I've never used Skype to make phone calls. Besides, Google Voice is free to call US numbers :)
