I just purchased mpt 4.01a for my razr v3m, but after trying several times of installing drivers, installing and uninstalling the program etc; not only does my computer thru the usb not recognize or charge my phone, some where in the background another copy of this program is now runnying the last 2 or 3 times I tried to reinstall the program. I been working on this for a couple 2 to 3 nights with no success. I have read several thread on this site as well as others, especially the ones from Cindybell. Can some Please Help Me! :loony:
I am assuming you meant you read threads of mine... Cincyball...not Cindybell. It makes me wonder how closely you really read the threads, lol. You need to provide more information in order to be helped accurately. Who is your provider? What phone model? Are you sure you have the newest version of MPT? What version of Windows are you running? Which driver tool did you try to install? etc.
Hi! Cindyball, Sorry about the misspelling of your name, but I have read several of your threads. My os is windows 2000 professional, carrier is verizon, my phone model which I purchased july 06 in the silver razr v3m. I as I expressed in my previous initial thread I am unable to change my phone through the usb cable by connecting it to the pc, also I am now unable to update past this version of mpt 4.12a, since trying to uninstalling and reinstalling the mpt several times. The last time before I sent the thread I tried instralling the driver tool 4.21 and the and motorola eu driver installation package and also renaming my phone v3cm (before I have tried naming it v3c also), this did not work either. I been getting quite frustrated to say the least.
I had a problem connecting my V3m, and I found a driver tool from Motorola that did the trick. I had the MPT 4.36 drivers installed previously but there was one thing that wouldn't be recognized (I think it was called "Motorola Accessory"). Just extract and run. Once you have done that when you connect your phone let Windows automatically find your drivers. I hope this fixes your problem as it did mine.
I've heard multiple times about people having problems with stuff like this and it was becuase they weren't running service pack 2 with XP. So I'd imagine if you don't even HAVE XP that could be a problem? Some of the programs may not be compatible, and even if they do install and load and all, they still might not work to interface with the phone. I'm not a hundred percent sure on this so someone else who knows better can either say I'm wrong or back me up... but that could possibly be a problem.
Hey, Stephen ! thanks for your help. Sorry for the late reply, but computer crashed 12/16/06 (on my b-day, no joke!) I just jot back on internet and restalled mpt,4.01a then updated to 4.21a, driver tool 4.21a and the driver and the bottom of your reply (handset usb driver). then chose to connect by cable. I turned on the phone, plugged the other end of cable in usb port (in back of computer). The phone recognized my razr v3m as a v3c and connected it instantly and started charging the phone; what a relief after 3-4 nights of frustration . Your a life saver, Holytooner. p.s. had enough of this for a nite might try seeming tommorow.
