Here are the global handset market share for quarter 1, 2004 Nokia 29% Motorola 16% Samsung 13% You can see the rest on the following link: www.mobileisgood.com/statistics.html
:hyper: They are gaining share in the GSM world, lately I don't as much from them in the CDMA world like Motorola is so it is possible ?? it might be awhile :cycle: If that world phone comes out for Verizon it could be a big thing for the CDMA world :speechles
That might be Nokia's lowest share EVER. (or in a looooooong time) It was 40% not that long ago. I think Nokia has 20+ new phones worldwide for the rest of this year....I think they will fight back.
As long as Samsung continues forward in the CDMA market and chips away at GSM, by the end of this year they should catch up to Motorola for the No 2 spot.
For the past year to year and a half, samsungs phone releases have all ranked somewere betwen SOLID an OHH HOT $H!T!!!!. If they keep up with this trend accross al there phone offeings they will continue to gain market share. However, Motorola has begun to fight back hard and it will be intresting to see the result. Also, Nokia will not loose there top spot withought a fight. The closer the gap between them and #2, the more we should see them start being more bold with there new handset offerings. In conclusion, Samsung will NOT overtake Nokia in the next two years however, look for the gap between Nokia's number one position and Samsungs position to become much slimmer.
What I find shocking is that siemens is the company underneath them. I wonder why LG and Kyocera didn't rank higher on the list.
Because it's a global marketshare list. There are still about 7 GSM users worldwide for every 1 CDMA user (that's an estimate OTTOMH)
theres no way that Samsung can ever even tickle Nokia's skybound success, and in fact, nokia will soon dominate the CDMA market. even Nostradamus predicted it! ointup:
Any country with GSM and you'll find Nokia with a substantial market share. Last april when I went to Thailand, the rave in phones were the Nokia's, I think it was the 8000 series that was most popular. The only large market left is US CDMA. Don't think they could get their foot through the door with Korea and Japan unless they bring something new to the table.
I think that Lg doing some GSM they might keep the pace. Kyocera is all CDMA they might lose some ground as time goes on, then maybe not
