Can a Sprint phone be "converted" to be used on a Verizon newtork?

Actually, I know that some companies contract you out of altering your phone. ATT's contract says that the phones were specifically manufactured for their network and that you are not allowed to activate them on any other network. You would be legally doing something wrong, but more to the point, even beyond FCC stuff there are other issues. You aren't allowed to break security locks like that without the company's concent (in this case Sprint's). At least that's true in the United States (it's a federal law).

By converting a phone to Verizon from Sprint you are breaking federal law (the Digital Millenium Copyright Act to be specific). Will they catch you? Maybe, but probably not (they have better thing to worry about - hopefully).

It ATT's case you are violating a contract.

Either way, it's not like most Sprint phones can be used on Verizon's network anyway.

I don't think the DMCA could be used to enforce these locks, since defeating them doesn't allow you to access any copyrighted material. This, of course, won't stop them from *threatening* you with a lawsuit or whatnot.
