Since camera phones first came to market, I could never figure out why anyone would want one. The pictures almost always suck and it adds bulk and cost to cell phones. Well maybe I should get off my high horse because this past Tuesday morning, I was southbound on the 57 freeway in Orange County, CA on my way to a clients office when I was T-boned at 70 mph. The car hit me in the rear passenger side wheel and sent me skidding 50 feet sideways. Luckily, I didn't roll, but behind me six other cars collided blocking 4 lanes and causing a Sig Alert. So now I'm standing in the middle of the freeway and I remember my dad telling me when I started to drive to always take pictures if I'm ever in an accident. At first I said to myself, damn I left my camera at home. Then I realized, my Moto v710 has a camera. And although the pics aren't the greatest, they definitely show the accident minutes after it happened. The pics attached are of my car. Now if someone could explain text messaging to me. I can barely type on a standard keyboard, now I have to type with tiny number pad?!?! Ugh, I'm getting old!
It's a SoCal term for a bad acceident that will take a while to clean up. Sig Alert cutback, I am glad you are OK.
Man, you're lucky! It's good you're ok after this experience. An accident at 70mph is often fatal as SUVs like to Rollover.
My wife was in a fender bender a couple of years ago. The tried to get money out of her there, even though he hit her in the rear. She used her phone to get his license plate, just in case. By the way, the E815 takes pretty good pictures, if the lighting is good. I'm not making 8x10's, but they come out perfectly fine for 4x6.
Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/4.0 (MobilePhone MM-7400/US/1.0) NetFront/3.1 MMP/2.0) In the Saturday edition of the daily news here in nyc. A lady was able to use here 1.3 meg. cameraphone to take a picture of a man who exposed his self to her on the subway.
Glad to hear that you are OK! I use my camera quite a bit for different things as I go about my daily life. In my opinion, cameras in phones are very useful!
Glad you are okay too! I rarely use my camera on my phone too, but I guess it's nice to know you have it when you need it!!
This term is used in Northern CA as well. Sig Alerts are commonly issued for accidents on the Bay Area bridges (i.e. Golden Gate, Bay Bridge, San Mateo Bridge and Dumbarton Bridge). Good to hear that you weren't seriously injured, cutback.
Thye are the best things for car accidents and crimes. Haven't we read stories already of Child predators/molesters being caught on mobile camera?
I think you cursed me, cutback, last night on my way home I got in a fender bender... not nearly as bad as yours, thank God and everyone was okay. I remembered your post and tried to take pics with my phone but alas, no flash so they didn't come out too well. Still, good info for people with camera phones.
Thanks for all the well wishes. An accident of this magnitude couldn't have turned out better. Sorry to hear the news Rancid and glad to hear everyone on the DS is ok, but cursed? Perhaps the Emperor has been lying to you about the power of the Dark Side.
