I have Alltel Wireless and when i call a LAN phone it shows up like this...

    City, State
    555-5555

it shows up my city, state and my wireless number below it.

I want it to show my name. I have called Alltel and they said everything looks fine on their end. They did some refreshes to my line and they said it could take 1-2 days to take effect. Well it has been a day and still nothing.

    What else can i do?

I'm not sure you can do anything. I don't know whether ALLTEL transmits the name on the CID, but if they say they do but it does not show up on your landline then it's most likely something with your landline carrier. Some carriers differ in the way they show cellular caller IDs. I have a VOIP that shows cell calls as "CEllular" Utah

That might just be how it works. From what I've seen VZW does the same thing your's is doing, but Sprint and AT&T display the name and number. Do you have any friends with Alltel? What do their phones show up as when they call your house?

Yup, Verizon does not do Name Caller ID, they will show something like City,State or "Cellular Caller" or something depending on the area.

Interesting. Well maybe you need to open a trouble ticket with a higher up Tech rep. I'm not sure what the issue may be in that case.

Calling name (CNAM) is not transmitted with the call, only the number. It is up to the carrier receiving the call to query a database to pick up the name. There are several vendors of the CNAM service and they don't all have the same data nor do they update their databases on the same interval. There are a lot of variables and it is really quite a mess. It is possible that one landline provider will pick up your name correctly and another won't. VOIP providers are even more variable.

I also use Alltel and had them change my wife's number and my son's number to show correct names for CID. I seems like it was nearly a week before they showed up correctly consistently. I suggest you give it a week.

Yup, it seems like whenever I've changed the caller ID name on my lines in the past, it usually takes place within a couple days, but there's been several times that it's taken a week or longer. About the time I was getting ready to call back and make the request again, it finally started showing up right.

Even then, there are some landline providers here that just show city, state, and number. Whenever I call somebody on Cavalier, a competing landline provider in my area, it never shows up my name though it will on any other landline phone. If you know other people with alltel and their names show up fine, that's probably not the problem, but I know that it can happen.
