I go to school just outside of Boston (medford/somerville) and spend most of my time there, and travel a couple of times a month to Portland, ME. I'm looking into getting a phone and need some advice on which carrier. Until I started reading this forum, I was looking at the att national network plan for $35. It seemed to be a good deal, and I like the 6360 phone you can get with att for a decent price. However it seems that people generally don't recommend att.... the verizon america's choice is similarly priced, but I can't find as good deals on phones throught them. Also, you can buy att, cingular, sprint from websites like letstalk.com and zdnet.com, which is generally cheaper than buying direct. why isn't verizon available this way? So if anyone has recomendations about service and/or phones that'd be great. I might be using the phone as my only phone, so I need the call quality to be good especially in greater boston and decent from boston to portland. Thanks
There is no doubt Verizon is the best in New England.....But...I just took a trip up to Maine past Portland and I had 3 different cell phones with me. The first one Sprint...was good, until I got further into Maine then it lost service, I wouldn't recommend that one. Cingular....was good the whole trip. It roamed off of ATT and I would say ATT has good coverage up there. Verizon.....was also good the whole trip, but when I to it wasn't always digital. But I always (for the most part) had coverage. So I would say ATT would be fine, as would Cingular or Verizon.
With the national network make sure that there is At&t coverage everywhere you need it. So you woill not get roaming charges Jack
