Please post in this forum which bluetooth device you are using with your CDMA (verizon, sprint, alltel) RAZR V3m phone. Hopefully, this list will help people make a good decision when buying a bluetooth headset instead of going through several nightmares of problems. Bluetooth Headset 1. Brand 2. Model Clarity of headset Please post how clear the headset is here Issues Please post your experiences with this device. Good features Please post what you like about the features of this headset. Before you post: Make sure you have *ALL* firmware/software updates on your phone- including provider updates. (Verizon Wireless you can press *228) Try to be as detailed specific as possible when posting- try to avoid making posts saying the product sucks or is great without giving the details as to why! (I hope this can become a useful sticky)
Bluetooth Headset 1. Motorola 2. H500 Clarity of headset Static/buzzing heard on the other end when receiving calls from other people. Sometimes clear on my phone but more complaints on my wife's. Issues Buzzing/static on the device. Not very comfortable after about 30 minutes of use. Good features The Motorola H500 pairs up easily, has a good charge time/battery life. Even though there is static, I rate it better than my Plantronics 655 model headset. I will be coming back to this forum to post on another Bluetooth device when I get back home from exchanging my 655 Headset. After two failed devices, I'm not 100% sure it ISN'T my phone and my wife's phone.
Bluetooth Headset 1. Motorola 2. H700 Clarity of headset I think the clarity is quite good. I keep the phone in either my left jacket pocket, or my left pant pocket, and very RARELY have any static. If any, it is just a tiny bit and lasts less than a minute. I can hear the other end very well, and have had no responses of people not being able to hear me. Great wind resistance as well! Issues If the phone is in the other room (well within 30'), I find heavy static even if it is 5' away with a wall in between. But if Im home, I rarely use my headset. Other than that, I have no complaints. Good features I like the flip boom that preserves battery life. It has the ability to place, receive, and end calls. Very good voice recognition for voice dialing. Can redial from headset. Take call waiting calls, and also use 3-way conference calls. Basically, you can leave the phone in your pocket at ALL times. It does much more than I expected. Prett good battery life. I talk about an hour a day on the way home from work, and it lasts all week. Id say a good 6 hours of talk time, and about 12 hours of standby. Good enough for me. Super compact and you forget u have it on. Status light lets peopel know u are on a call.
The H700 is my favorite as well. Many times when I am using the H700 people have no clue I am on a mobile phone. I have been told several times by different callers that it sounds as good as a landline. (That's with my GSM Motorola phones ((V551, V3, A845)) and Cingular service). -Jay
**UPDATE** I exchanged both my wife's phone and her Plantronics headset today- turns out the Plantronics is working really well now. I need to modify my remarks about this device because I had a faulty headset **AND** my wife's phone was swapped out for a new one. When trying to test my 655 by making a call to my wife's RAZR and 655 headset, it was all static...Not anymore!! Bluetooth Headset 1. Plantronics 2. Discovery 655 Clarity of headset Clarity of the headset is really good. Every once in a while some small bits of static may appear but it goes right away. I keep my phone in my pocket. I have yet to test how far away it works but it is working quite well. Issues The battery life from what I have read isn't as good as others tested on the market- 3 hours talk time but I have yet to use it that much. Good features The phone comes with MANY likable features- 3 different ear bud pieces, USB charging capabilities, AAA battery charging capability, and the option to have an ear hook on it or not. This version also comes with what Plantronics calls, "AudioIQ" which is basically noise cancellation filters. I noticed when my wife was indoors and talking to me, the filter was left open and I could hear people talking in the background. As soon as she walked outside, I could actually hear a difference in the sound, it's like all the background noise was cut off and I could only hear when my wife talked. Although it's a good feature, I don't feel that it's perfected-but it DOES seem to work. The AAA battery charger links together in a modular way and if you have all the components connected to it, it looks like a large sized pen with a clip that you insert the headset into for charging. I can use this phone without the ear clip and it stays in my ear but I feel more secure wearing the ear clip. I have been wearing this headset for about 4 hours now and I barely notice it. It's VERY comfortable and light. I'm VERY happy that this device does indeed work. My wife is happy also because of it's features and clarity. I have yet to experience battery life but at least now my friends don't complain about hearing a buzzing sound like with my H500. My Motorola H500 is now paired up with my Sony Playstation 3 (and it works VERY well!!)
Bluetooth Headset 1. Motorola 2. H550 Clarity of headset Relatively clear. Worked well with my RAZR V3m. No extensive testing was done on this headset because I only tested it while at the Verizon Wireless store today. Issues No issues when testing this device. Although it does feel like the H500 so with my ear shape, I would find it to be uncomfortable after an hour or so. Good features The felt a lot like I was wearing an H500 headset but the clarity was a lot better than my H500. I almost bought this headset because I was trying to get SOMETHING to work for my wife's phone but once we swapped out her phone and swapped out her Plantronics Discovery 655, everything worked quite well and we didn't need to get a different model. Although I would suggest trying it first, if you think the Motorola H550 might be a good choice for you- go to your nearest retailer and ask if you can test it out. I think it might be a good choice!
1. Motorola 2. H3 Clarity of headset Very good. When reception between tower and phone is bad, the headset seems bad, but is not. You hear through the headset what the phone receives. Issues The ear hook should be a flex type. Make it to bendable to grip the ear. Good features The Motorola H3 pairs up easily and has a short charge time with long battery life. I bought it for the mini usb plug so I can carry 1 charger. Even though it is a slightly older design, I don't wear it constantly (it is comfortable) and it holds a charge quite well. Even after talking for almost 2 hours straight, it still took less than an hour to recharge.
