does anyone know if this will happen. the pearl is two small for my liking. i played with the curve at a AT&T. it is teh nicest BB i have had my hands on, will it come to verizon?????
doubtful. Seems to me RIM hates CDMA as they have avoided it like the plague. probably bc its so narrow in demand compared to GSM
yeah but from the looks of it Blackberry devices are up in the CDMA phone lineups................Sprint has 2 or 3 and Verizon has like 4.................thats not any more than the other carriers have
Very true. I dont think they hate them there is just more you can do if you have a GSM BB such as go over seas if you need that. I know there is the 8830 world edition.
yea...but cdma is just getting the pearl where that is soon to be a phone GSM carriers wont even sell anymore as they are getting the newest BB's. verizon and alltel still sell the old 7000series models and for quiet a hefty price. its supply and demand, RIM is a well run company and they realize that GSM is the money maker where people use their phones. so i guess what im saying is im sure verizon will one day get the curve, but by the fact that they just got the pearl, a 2 year old phone at least, it will be that long before they get the curve i would guesstimate.
Well there was a couple of sightings of a CDMA Curve during the recent WMC. From what I have read it is rumored to be heading towards Sprint....But from what I have experienced, when something as popular as the Curve goes to 1 of 2 of our CDMA carriers..Typically they both end up with it......Here are a couple of links. hmm so maybe Christmas for VZW? EDIT: oh snap in those pics its running V.4.3 ....when the hell is BB gonna release that 4.3 update anyhow? they've been promising it since novemeber with no release yet
i hope that curve comes to verizon and not just sprint. please please please!!!!!!!! blackberry gods!!!!!:inlove:
My info said it's in testing. If it passes it would be 1st quarter. If it fails it would be pushed back to second quarter. Second quarter could mean longer. But right now it seems promising for 1st quarter.......
Right now I'm enjoying the Pearl. The thought of a Curve or I should say "holding a pack of cards to my ear" leaves me cold! My brother in law just got a curve fromAT&T today and just loves it.......so go figure!
yeah most business customers use the BB and they will take it over seas for international work......but the 8830 looks very promising beings dual mode capable
With open access starting this week you'll be able to purchase a Curve from Sprint or Alltel and have it activated on Verizon. I'm sure cost will be a factor along with the learning curve with VZW to get it activated......but it's a thought!
lol...........i dont think they actually have the CDMA version of the Curve yet......and they still havent said how the whole process of activating a 3rd party deviece on their network really works......
From what I have read on other forums, even with the "open access program", the phone still has to be tested on Verizon's network in order to have it activated. I'll believe it, when I start reading about customers that are able to activate any "CDMA" device without any restrictions.
Sorry, But i don't think verizon will have the curve, i think the company that makes blackberry phones (RIM) only currently wants the curve for GSM carriers (ATT, T-MOBILE). But if they start making the Curve for a CDMA networks i am sure it but all over the wireless news!
yea exactly. i dont doubt the curve will be CDMA eventually. but by then the 9000 series BB's will be out to GSM carriers and everyone will talk about the curve like old potatos like the 8700 and 7000 series BB's that VZW customers still carry. no way would i be caught dead with one of those old phones, tho i did always like the jog wheel.
Verizon Wireless and Sprint are deffinitly getting the BlackBerry 8330 Curve by the middle of 2008, I read on CrackBerry.com saying the new release date for the Curve on Verizon Wireless is May 1, 2008. Sprint is supposed to get it a little after that....these are just estimates though.
Thats what i hear, around April. But the software is not as good as AT&T's <a href="http://s203.photobucket.com/albums/aa168/rangecruisers/?action=view¤t=verizonblackberry.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa168/rangecruisers/verizonblackberry.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
I would say that by the middle of the second quarter you will see this coming. Also I think the point has been made here about GSM getting blackberries quicker yippee.
The next phones up are the Treo Centro, the env2, the curve and possibly the Q9C. Currently if use BB withouth a corporate email address you can get unlimited data for 29.99. Same if you have the vx 5800, 6800 or the q9m.
I guess, for once, Sprint's testing has caused it to be the last of the CDMA carriers to launch the phone. Nice to see this will be available this week!
I think Verizon tests longer then Sprint, but it comes down to who can get the initial exclusive rights first.
