    Hi,

Does anybody here have any experience with Blackberry email service in Vermont? I had Tmobile and was able to receive email via Unicel (I think) in White River Junction and the surrounding areas. Just wondering about Verizon and Cingular people, if you were able to receive emails as well.

    Thanks!

Yes, Verizon has native coverage around White River Junction, so emailing would be possible. They are also working on DATA roaming agreements so your DATA should soon work while roaming on other digital networks.
Attached is a map of the area.

Thanks Andy, good to hear. I'm on the last couple days of my 15 day trial (just got a 7130e) and was wondering if my service would work while in Vermont. I'm a little leary about keeping this phone, since its an all digital phone (no tri band like other verizon phones). My 7100t for Tmobile is Quad band and had very good service while in Vermont. I was actually contemplating returning this one and perhaps getting Tmobile or Cingular. Quad band seems much more reliable to me.

Still in a pickle on what to do.

The yellow area that centers around the freeways is current Verizon native service, the light other color is Extended Network Digital service and the darker color is Extended Network Analog service. If you don't travel into those analog areas, you will be fine with a digital only Verizon phone, and keep in mind that Digital is being overlaid more everyday on carriers that run AMPS. The maps may also be outdated, as in that digital native and extended service is much more spread. A Tri-mode Verizon phone will definitely get you more service in some of those areas right now.

Yes, I believe they use USCC and Rural Cellular(Unicel) in VT outside their own coverage.

I find Dave Markson's cellguru.net very usefull in wireless service reporting for New England.

Thanks Andy - i was under the impression that Unicel was GSM?? When i had Tmobile, I thought i was roaming on Unicel's 850 (my blackberry 7100t said 850 on the top of my screen). I guess they do analog for Verizon too?

I'm perplexed regarding the email service as well. I'm looking a the Unicel webpage and they don't seem to offer blackberry service. Yet i was receiving and sending emails without problems on their 850 service.

Yes, it does look like RCC provides some ANALOG service for Verizon users in some areas of VT.
