I am really hoping they will be successful and we can have another viable OS. The BB hardware has always been excellent and the Z10 didn't disappoint in that regard.

So I will focus on this: :)

I guess as long as one avoids looking at the stock chart one can remain in denial :)

Their new phone has only been out five months. Lets see if they improve in the next 6.

You mean when it's no longer new and sales take a nosedive? :)

Seriously, I think you're right. BB crowd is different — their adoption rate is slower, so the results may very well be delayed quite significantly. The biggest issue for them is the wider acceptance of the BYOD policy coupled with MDM systems becoming more prevalent and easier to integrate into other OSes.

BlackBerry won't survive it's just an old and outdated platform. Very few people outside of the business world even use them and even those users have mostly switched to an iPhone or Android device. In the consumer market blackberry is dead and has been for some time.

One of the few positives blackberry has is blackberry messenger which many still seem to enjoy. However BBM is coming out with an app for that on the iPhone and Android. I can see even more users fleeing when that happens just one less reason to stick with a blackberry device.

I agree with this. Competition between all of these wireless platforms is the reason why our devices have some of the nice useful features that are on them now. Take away one of these sources and you remove one OS in which one can pull some of the features from.... Or copy from if that's the case. ;)
