It is one of the most awaited sales, what are the things that you are planning to purchase this year?
Got an email from Google on their Black Friday sale. The Pixel 4 is $200 off. It looks like the sale starts November 24th from the email:
I ordered a Pixel 4 today with the $200 discount. A trade in kit is also being shipped. It was odd, but without telling Google I was trading in my Pixel 3 it said my trade in value was estimated to be $235. Delivery says - Delivery Nov 27–Dec 02
4 XL, delivery says Nov 26-27 (if it's not delivered on the 26th I'll pick it up after I come back from Thanksgiving). No trade-in kit has been mentioned.
It was kind of screwy how the trade in was setup. On step 3 or 4 it popped up next to the insurance option, but it wouldn't let me select it, but it let me select, "Learn More" about the trade in option and that added it to my cart. I'm guessing it gave an estimated value, since I looked at getting the Pixel 4 when it first came out, but I wasn't happy with the trade in value for my Pixel 3 and I guess it kept that in a cookie.
Also. I ordered an orange Pixel 4. Since we bought a black couch and love seat, every time I set it down on either, I can't find my black Pixel 3 .
LOL, I decided to stick with Black. Ever since I learned how to make noise with Find my Phone I stopped caring about losing it in the couch
I just got an email for Google, my Pixel 4 will arrive to tomorrow. Google has a distribution center in Carol Stream, Illinois which is really close to my house.
Lucky you. Looks like mine will arrive on Wednesday (shipped from SoCal) and 300 miles is a little too far for FedEx Ground to cover in one day. Oh well, I'll pick it up on Tuesday next week, at least it won't ruin my holidays
I just got another email from Google. It said my trade in kit was just mailed from their distribution center in Indianapolis, Indiana. I thought the trade in kit would be sent with my phone. It looks like I'll receive it after Thanksgiving.
After setting up the Pixel 4 I discovered the face recognition works extremely well for waking up the phone.
I thought it was the radar that did the face recognition I do miss the fingerprint scanner, but I'm guessing apps that use the fingerprint scanner will add face recognition.
You're right. The facial recognition uses infrared projectors/cameras. The radar is motion sensing radar.
I think you're on to something as well. Reading a bit more about it, looks like they use the radar to wake up and prep the facial recognition system, which may lead to your impression. And that's a good thing
It's a shame Google doesn't value their products nearly as much on trade ins as they do when selling them. They're selling for considerably more on Swappa. Samsung gave $600 for an S10 when buying a Note 10. And my Pixel 4 XL arrived. Nice phone but it's pretty big.
Ya, you're right about the trade in value. That's the reason why I didn't buy a Pixel 4 when it first came out. With the Black Friday discount of $200 and trade in of $235, I was ok with a $435 discount, but I wish it would have been more. A 6.3" phone is BIG.
