Okay I downloaded BitPim and I like it except for one small thing. When I added a ringtone, I clickd the send data to phone icon, and next to ringtones, the "add" bubble isn't available, just the "replace all." What am I doing wrong? Same thing when I try to send pictures?

I don't think that's something you're doing wrong, it's just the way it is, some transfers only have the option to add and others only have the option to replace all. The phone book I believe is one that should be replace all, so you have to write all your contacts to the phone each time you make a change to one. The weird thing is I could have sworn that ringtones at least was just add. Either way... have you successfully done this? I wasn't able to get any of those type of functions to work in bitpim.

Yea, that is the way BitPim is. You cannot add ringtones. Its evident when u try to add one to the a/motorola/shared/audio folder, u get the error message that the folder has been locked by the phone's provider. Thats why we need MPT, or P2Kcommander

So I can't add ringtones through BitPim then? I downloaded MPT, and only got the Image Studio and Melody Studio I believe. No File transfer studio or anything like that. Did I download the wrong version?

Nope there is only one version. Just live update it to the newest version, which is 4.36. Other than that, u should be good to go.

You need to have done the seem edit for usb file transfer, as well as either manually set up MPT to recognize your phone (the way it audo detects will now allow you to access multimedia studio) or do the OTHER seem edit that sets the name of your phone correctly to be autodetected by MPT and have multimedia studio available. The second is probably easier if you are comfortable with seem editing. Although you should only have to manually set up MPT to recognize your phone once anyway.

Not with USCC he shouldnt have to. Typically, Alltel and USCC dont disable their phone's ability to work with MPT.

Sorry, didn't realize he was with USCC, I was just trying to cover all the bases so that he'd be able to get it working without having to come back for more help.

It's alright. I've made headway though. I have successfully transferred one file that I am using as a ringtone. One more question though, I use BitPim to edit the length of the song I want to use and when I transfer the cropped portion to my phone through P2Kcommander, it sticks it in my media folder with my other ringtones, but I can't select it to be used as a ringtone, just the first file I sent. Any suggestions?

Did you delete the mytones.db or whatever it's called file? That indexes your ringtones, and when you add a ringtone, you need to delete it, then restart, and the phone sees it's not there and makes it again, and the new index includes your new ringtone.

Thank you, I didn't know that, I'll start doing that. What I ended up doing was making a new folder for each ringtone and placing it in there. It works, but your way sounds much more simple. Thank you.
