    Greetings!

I have (ten) Cingular 3g sim cards that are in

original packaging [you know, the plastic card], but when I popped

one out and put it in a phone it said "sim registration failed",

which means either the phone was reported lost/stolen, or the sim

card is expired (right?). I tried the same card in 3 different

phones, so I know the sim card is expired. Also, I understand they expire after

three months of non-use, and the manufactered date on the batch is marked

sometime a year and a half ago...

What can I do about this? I am totally unfamiliar with any cable

methods- I've always unlocked nokias via restriction codes. [[What is the

deal with the cable? It's a USB cable right? I know you can unlock phones

through it and the internet, but what median would you use to do so? Could

this also work with expired sims?]]

If I took them into Cingular [AT&T] do you think they would

unlock them all? I just don't see them swapping me ten new ones for

    free...:censored:

    Any input is appreciated.

Prior to putting the SIM in the phone, did you call CS to have it activated & a phone number attached to it?

If not then it will not work and you will get registration failed, since it has never been registered.

You didn't buy a batch of Pre-Paid SIMs on Ebay did you?

Fire's right, if you didn't call customer service and have it activated then you will get the SIM registration failed message. Only way to find out if all of them are good is call CS and have them do a search for those SIM #'s and they can tell you if they've already been activated before or not. If they haven't, you shouldn't have any problems with them.

Thanks guys, for the feedback. Both of you are correct; I went and talked to AT&T CS today and got all the answers I needed... [[like you all said, they werent expired but unactivated, so of course I would get the error message]]

    thanks for your help
