Yeah, i'm disappointed as well. The maps have like 10 colors now!
Lets take a poll, how long until a city/state sues sprint for confusing maps?
Also, a lot of areas ( affiliates i think) cant show a map, and just tell you to but a phone. lol

Take a look at the Los Angeles area map. It's a joke. You can't zoom in and can't see anything really. Some of the other regions have slightly better maps but still they suck. Sprint used to have maps for affiliate areas as well but for some unknown reason decided to ditch them.

Probably because the affiliate area maps would be "competitive information" that would help Nextel in overlapping areas.

I'm not sure what you mean by this. The maps can still be seen on printed brochures but just not on the web site.

I did notice that the affiliate maps were pulled down around the same time as the Nextel merger occurred.

Right, but Sprint no longer has the up-to-date tower data (i.e. the proprietary information) that you need to generate the coverage maps. They could put up out-of-date maps, I suppose, but considering that they can't directly sell service in affiliate territory they really don't need to--and, if they're inaccurate, the old maps would probably just confuse people in the affiliate markets anyway.

Well, the new enlarged maps only seem to cover the center of the old maps; if you look at the Raleigh/Durham map (put in 27708 or something), for example, nothing north of downtown Durham is actually on the enlarged map.

    They're pretty though.

Right, I noticed that as well even for the Los Angeles map. I guess they couldn't fit the whole service area on the new enlarged maps or it would be too small.

More curious stuff on the new Sprint coverage maps were seen at http://www.sprint.com/pcsbusiness/coverage/towermaps.html . What I really wanted to know was the coverage or location of towers between San Antonio, TX and Big Bend, TX

Clicking on San Antonio, TX , I see towers along Hwy. 90 west of San Antonio, all the way to about 15 miles east of Del Rio, where the map ends. Going back to the national map and clicking on Del Rio, TX., I see none of towers east of Del Rio on Hwy 90 that were on the San Antonio map. In fact I didn't see the name "Del Rio" . hint: Its the city on the Texas side of the Rio Grande across from Acuna.

And when I entered Del Rio's zip code, 78840, at http://www.sprint.com/business/products/products/evdoEnterZip.jsp , it comes up as invalid.

I was just reading the thread on the lack of features advertised to be available on the PPC 6700. Does anyone at Sprint ever proof read anything?

Yeah those Sprint tower maps are way out of date and have a lot of oddities about them. They don't show affiliate markets either.

The EV-DO Maps have been updated to reflect the running status of service on Long Island. And boy is Power Vision fast!

Why does Sprint update the EVDO maps so much? Do they add that much every week that it's worth/makes a different in the maps?

    Here is the deal:

The sprint consumer (smaller maps) were updated last week. The business maps were not updated, and today were cought up to the consumer maps. There really was no change.

You sure about that? The consumer maps for So. Cal haven't been updated since September.

Yes they really are moving that fast. Every week EV-DO coverage is expanding and they're doing a good job of keeping the maps updated (which is rare for Sprint).
