I've always gone into the VZW store for new equipment and all things contract related. Our contract is up in 60 days so it's decision time again.

Is there any benefit from buying at a big box or 3rd party vendor? Thanks in advance.

Sometimes you can get better deals on phones at other stores. For example, this week Best Buy is advertising the Palm Centro for Free with 2yr activation. The Verizon store has this phone for $99.99 with 2yr act.

However, sometimes such deals at retailers are only for new activations. They don't always apply to existing customers. This week the Best Buy price for the Centro says Free, but the upgrade price is the same as Verizon's 59.99 + 500 Reward Zone points.

I saw that. I was all jazzed and then I realized I'd be paying the same nut less the reward zone points (whatever they are).

Just got a BlackBerry Curve for 49.99 at Best Buy. Best Verizon store could do was 170.00 less 70.00 MIR.

You may switch to AT&T which also give good deals to new customers. If enough people are doing that, the phone companies may learn not to treat their existing customers like dirt.

Uhh, I like my phone to ring when people call me. Apparently this was too much for at&t and the iPhone to handle so I am back with Verizon.....It's the Network. Pretty happy with my $50 BB Curve!

Did AT&T let you cancel the 2-year contract? I am considering the iphone and will only try if there is a way out.
