AT&T has excellent coverage in San Antonio (or at least it did, when I had it there 3 years ago). Im sure Verizon offers just as great, if not better coverage as well.
I currently swiched from Cingular to Sprint. cingular was good too and they cover every spot of San Antonio, same as Sprint does. But the only reason I changed was because of the phone. Cingular does not carry any 3G phones so it was the time for swiching..but as far as covering, most major ones cover San Antonio since it is a mid to big size city...
im now looking for best coverage that includes wireless interent since im going with a pda phone. i supposed sprint and verizon have the best but am not sure. any suggestions for san antonio?
That is a tough call. By looking at coverage maps, it looks like both Sprint and Verizon have extensive EVDO coverage around there, but by looking at the coverage maps, I would almost give the edge to Sprint, EVDO coverage wise.
Cingular has 3G coverage in San Antonio and the coverage is far superior for regular talk. I have never had a dropped call in 6 months; NE side. Plus thy have the BlackJack and the Pearl so the phones are awesome too.
I have a friend that lives in the suburbs of San Antonio. He and his family have been dedicated Sprint users for many years, and very happy with it. Another friend has tried to talk them into verizon, but after talking with people, they continue to use and be happy with Sprint. I have no personal experience to speak of, but just relaying the talk. Good Luck!
JFYI: there is a large blind spot where i live for the Sprint network: there is no coverage at all at Macarthur HS and a bad signal for the whole surrounding area. no problems with cingular, usually full bars
I am a student in San Antonio and I use Verizon because I am locked into my contract. I had pretty good coverage where I lived in California, but Verizon isn't all that great here in San Antonio. My phone says "Extended Network" when I am in residential areas of town and I usually get two bars or so. There are a lot of areas where I have no coverage inside, but I tend to hang out just north of downtown. Cingular has probably the best voice coverage in San Antonio, but I know that T-Mobile and Sprint have good coverage too. The newly merged AT&T, which is the new parent company of Cingular Wireless, is headquartered here in San Antonio. That is why their coverage tends to be so good, since it is home turf. I would give a slight edge to Sprint over T-Mobile. I would recommend Cingular but if you absolutely want CDMA then go with Sprint.
