Where can I find a Sanyo 4900 for a good price as an existing customer??

I've only found it for $179.00 for existing customers at RS, BB and Sprint.

I paid only $134.99 (a 25% discount) at Best Buy in the Chicago
suburbs on the last Monday in August. I have seen it similarly
priced at Radio Shack during October.

Surely by now someone carries this phone for even less.[IMG]

I would think so too, but I haven't found them in San Diego. I've heard of price slashes coming November 1. Hopefully they will come.

If there is a Microcenter near you, you can get one on sale for $144.00. Unforunately, the sale ad of theirs ends October 27.

Radio Shack will give you $50 mail-in rebate for an old phone. That will knock the 4900 down to $129. The only other way to get it any cheaper is to get a whole new phone number, then Sprint will give you the $100 mail-in rebate, this is the cheapest I've found the phone. [IMG]

I got my 4900 for free!!! The local Sprint store has a special where if you upgrade to a Vision plan you can get up to a $200 instant rebate on your new phone. The rebate had this matrix using how much you spend monthly and how long you have been with SPCS. I think it started at $50 and went up to $200 off. So I would say check you local Sprint store out.

    AMAZON.COM

I dunno if they still have this deal... but they did have an $80 rebate, plus a $50 through sprint... you end up paying $50 for the sanyo 4900

All Amazon offers are for new customers. Where is the best deal with no new customer rebates??

Retention customers who "upgrade" to a Vision plan?

Can you tell me more? Is this the "upgrade plan" for the current customers?

It was an upgrade plan for current customers. I live in Richmond, IN and our local Sprint store is owned by a company call Ubiquitel out of PA. So I don't know if it was something they were doing on their own or a national thing.

Retention department is part of the cancellation department of Sprint that tries their best to keep you as a customer. If you call to cancel, they will throw minutes and credit for a new phone at you if you sign up for a new contract. It is a great way for the existing customer to get what the new customers are being offered.

Circuit City had them for $129.99. The Jones Store also has them for that price on their sales.

Don't purchase from Best Buy they don't stand behind anything they sell and if you buy their Performance Plan they will do what they can not to honor the exchange.

I have not found one vendor offering the Sanyo 4900 for under $180. I have checked online and locally (San Diego) and have been unsuccessful. All rebates and discounts are for new customers, not existing ones. Does anyone else have any ideas or locales to look into.

Here's an idea... wait a few weeks until the 5300 comes out. I'm sure you can buy a used 4900 from quite a few people on Wirelessadvisor. Seems like most of us are "flipping" over the 5300. You should be able to get a slightly used (it's only been out 3-4 months) 4900 with accessories at a great price. Check out the posts from 4900 users waiting for the 5300.

Not a bad idea, although I am not a huge fan of used electronics. However, once the 5300 comes out, I think prices may drop across the board from Sprint.

Call Sprint and complain that your current phone is in bad shape, that you'd really like to upgrade to a Vision plan (or add Vision to your current plan) that you're a wonderful customer and that you'd like a credit towards buying a new 3G phone. They might give you a credit of $50 or more, and maybe extend your agreement. Buy your new phone. You have three free months to evaluate Vision. If you don't like it then drop it.

If you buy it from Circuit City online and either have it shipped to you or scheduled for pickup at your local circuit city, it's only $104.99. You can order it online and pick it up in 5 minutes if it shows the local Circuit City has it in stock. You might want to call your local store to make sure they really have one there, because computer inventory is glitchy at best.

I just ordered a 4900 online from Circuit City for $104.99. It appears there's not an option, at least for the moment, for pickup at a store -- direct ship only. It looks like I'll be returning the one I bought at Radio Shack last week for $179, unless they match the price... :)

I'm waiting to get mine until I find out weather it will be compatable with the Push-to-talk feature or not. I'm getting tired of buying cell phones every 6 months when Sprint decides to launch this great new feature. I bought my A460 (which I hate by the way) exactly 15 days before they released vision. Now I'm doing my homework a little better to choose my next phone and ran into information about a push-to-talk feature. So if anyone has info about this let me know!

Well, Circuit City (and Radio Shack) have a 30-day money back guarantee for equipment purchases (as opposed to Sprint's 14-day) so you have some protection there.

For existing customers that purchase from BB or Circuit City, is the $50 rebate still valid. If this is true, you are saying I can purchase the 4900 from CC for $104-$50 rebate. Right??

The rebate is from Sprint -- what you paid for the phone isn't their business (other than they will not give you rebates that exceed the price of the phone). So you should still be able to get the rebate if you're otherwise eligible.

I have found that most "in-store" rebates are for new customers. If you want Sprint to offer you something towards the purchase of a new fun as an existing customer, you would more than likely have to call them, keep your fingers crossed, and hope you get a CSR that is willing to work with you.

I asked a Sprint CSR one day why everything is done to get new customers and nothing much for existing.
He said, "existing customers dont realize that they can have anything they want if they just ask for it; stop waiting for it to be offered to them."

Well, it appears that the great Circuit City prices (BEFORE rebates) of last week -- like the Sanyo 4900 at $105 and the LG 5350 at $155, have disappeared. They are back up to the same prices as Sprint stores. Anyone have any idea why?

don't know about the rest of you, but I got mine for $19.95 + tax. no rebates.

I printed out the amazon.com price here, the $80 rebate here, took it to my local sprint store, and they pricematched it.

not sure if it's a local thing only, but worth a shot for anyone in the market, no?

Actually, Anonymous, I find that hard to believe. In any event, I'm sure Sprint would only be willing to match any of those rebates if, as with Amazon's rebates, you were activating a new line. The Circuit City price was for any customers, BEFORE rebates.

Staples is giving its own $75 Mail in Rebate in addition to the $50 rebate from Sprint if you are a new customer. Also select Staples stores are giving a $20 gift check if you purchase $150 of stuff. The phone is $149.99- so just add a pen!

Sprint stores will MATCH??? I asked a rep why I should buy from him when cheaper elsewhere, but he didn't mention offering to match!! aagghhh!! Is this truly their policy????

Staples rebates are expiring soon!! I think the phone must be activated by 11/16 - check for yourself. How do I find a "select" store with the $20 gift card? I wish they had the 5300!! You might also check in micro center stores - or their web site - 30% off sprint phones pre sprint mail-in rebate - not as good as staples, but not bad and doesn't expire as soon.
