we live in a rural area & need phones that have the best capability for maintaining a call. dont need a lot of other bells & whistles, just good signal strength (rf something?). what do we look for when purchasing phones? also, does anyone know if vzw has implemented it's prorated early term fee proposal yet? i remember reading about it a few months ago, but have not seen anything else about it. thanks! barb
I work for an indirect Vzw agency in rural California. The top criteria for the majority of our customers in choosing a handset is reception. From all we can gather through feedback from our customers, the Motorola V325 seems to do very well. Its trimode with an extendable antenna. The V325 makes up about 40% of our sales. We've sold a bunch and only have seen 1 comeback defective, so its seems to be reliable to boot. If reception is your primary concern, then I would stay away from LG or Pantech. I would also steer clear of any phone that has an internal antenna, e.g. Razr, Krzr, Sam A930. As far as pro-rated termination fees. Rumor and only rumor, has it to begin in 2007. We have not heard anything official yet.
I have to agree with the recomendation that the Moto V325 is a reception hog lol I gave my mom that phone and she loves it. I own the Samsung A930 and the reception is ok; I have to disagree with your recommendation against the LGs. My first LG was the VX3300, a no-frills phone that was recently discontinued, and I had great reception on that phone. The reception on the 3300 is better than my current phone. On these forums, the Motos (esp v325 or E815) and the Nokia 2128i are reputed as great reception phones.
Thanks all! We'll be going in next few weeks for new contract, so wanted to be prepared to get best phone for our needs. Love these forums!
