I am a current Verizon subscriber in the NY/NJ area looking to upgrade my phone. I need both a new flip and non flip phone. I have a option of the following phones:

    Nokia 3589i
    Motorola V60s
    Motorola C343
    Kyocera KX414
    Kyocera SE47
    Samsung SCH-a350
    Samsung SCH-a610
    LG VX3200
    LG VX4500
    LG VX6000
    Audiovox CDM8600
    Audiovox CDM8600

    Any Suggestions?

    Thanks!

Welcome to WA. If you want a good basic phone. A phone that can make calls when others are saying "Can you hear me", go with the Nokia 3589i.
Want cool, flip and a lot of fancy features, 3589 may not be for you.

Thanks! I also need to choose a flip phone, the cool features are not as much of a necessity as is the ability to make a call when I need to.

How come you don't have the option of the Samsung a650/a670?

Anyway...I was recently in NY/NJ for my cousin's wedding and had my Motorola v60i with me...(I know it's not the "s", but the speakerphone is the real difference I believe)I had great reception and clarity of calls my whole time there!

My husband, more recently, was back in NYC for a conference with his a670...had no problems contacting me or visa-versa when I needed to call him from CA...

    HTH...

Just so you're aware, just because a phone isn't listed on the "Upgrade your Phone" webpage doesn't mean you can't get it. If you're out of contract or in your equipment renewal period, you can upgrade to any phone VZW offers at the new activation price for a 1 or 2 year contract - including the VX-7000 and the forthcoming V710.

I have an LG VX7000 and my girlfriend has an LG VX3200 and we have both had excellent reception in the NY/NJ area. I would stay away from the LG VX6000 - I have several friends that owned that phone and had problems with them (numerous dropped calls, poor battery life). They recently upgraded to the Motorola E815 and love it.
