Does anyone know of a good no frills(does not even need to have a color screen) for Verizon? Battery life and reception should be good too. Its for my Mom and she does not need all the extras, but there are so many phone choices and I dont use Verizon service. Thanks in advance for any information!

I like my LG VX4500. It's not got a camera (banned at my workplace), it's not got any fancy games or whatever, but it's a good phone and it has good reception (as far as I can tell, I live in an area with terrific reception).

LG 4650 non camera phone...big speaker phone.

or even better Samsung a650 no frills at all, but very small, with large keys and great reception in fringe areas.

Both models are trimode as well.

You might take a look at the Samsung A650. No frills, Tri-mode, easy to read display with big numbers, reliable ( we get very few back for repair - I sell Vzw), and inexpensive. Reception is good, maybe an A-. Sound quality is also good.

    Samsung A650, Motorola V260, Motorola Startac ST7868

These are my top three. The 260 has a camera.

The startacs are discontinued, but are known to be the best. I have three of these myself, and they are incredible.

No one's mentioned the vx3200. It's cheap and it shows. I'm NOT recommending it. Go with a Samsung or a better LG.

On the other hand, there's no external screen to break....

They are upgrading the LG 3200 to the LG 3300...looks like the same phone but now with removable covers...(what a waste of effort.) I don't like that phone at all....The Samsung a650 also doesn't have an external display.the 3200 and 3300 both have a speakerphone, but it's not that great in my opinion.

I have actually had better luck with the 3200 than the 650. I highly recommend the 3200, but with the 3300 coming you might want to wait. The 3300 will have voice activated dialing much like that of the higher end phones with no training needed.

I'll give a nod to the LG VX 4500. I have one and it has very loud, clear audio and a great speaker phone. It's probably not the best for reception in fringe areas, but OK overall.

The Moto V260/265 is supposed to have good reception and is a normal phone, compared to some of the other stuff out there. Some of the samsungs are good phones as well. I personally don't like the Lg 3200; a friend of mine has one and reception on it doesn't seem to be as good as on my VX6k.

  12. I'd go with the Samsung a650. I also like my 4400, it's not got MANY freels but its pretty cool :D lol. You could get the lg 3200 ive used one before and ya u will get what u want - no freels lol. My first suggestion for u would be the a 650.

I thought the V260 does not have a camera while the v265 does have a camera? Also, I think the v260 is only available at Radio Shack or non-VZW stores. Of the phones mentioned in this thread, my vote would be the A650. Its hard to find a good basic phone these days, especially if you don't want or can't have a camera. :O

Yes, the V260 is the one without the camera, and available at Radio Shack. It does have good Moto RF though ;)

Well, my Mom wanted a speaker phone and ended up with the LG 4650 and its a piece of crap. Any suggestions if she doesnt want to go overboard price wise and would like an external screen. After such bad luck(4 V60's), she is now looking at reception and sound clarity as the main requirement. Thanks for all the great input!

If she is willing to stray from a flip phone, gow with

    NOKIA 6015i !

Best phone I've found for verizon as of recent, and I'm a rep at best buy.

Is it too late to return? Too many people wait until they can't return the phone to decide they don't really like it. This is why they put models on display. At some corporate stores, they can have up to 4 of the same model out.
