Who has the best coverage up and down the Mississippi River? Is there a map I can find that show this?

    My guess would be Cingular.

I would check out Alltel. I have not had any problems with them along the river. As for a map: www.alltel.com

Any carrier that roams well in the area outside their native service would probably work well. ALLTEL may be a great option.

Aha! A question I previously researched! Here's a pointer to my previous answer. There's been some purchases, mergers, and resulting name changes.

Now that mono-spaced text usage has been clarified, I think I'll revisit this and update it.

Thank you all so much for your replies. I am trying to find a solution for a friend who has tow boats all up and down the Mississippi. Of course his boats need to fax so that is an issue too.:) :help:

I believe the Circuit Switched Data that faxes use, isn't too well supported by GSM networks (although Cingular did have a 3.99 per month fax option available as recently as the beginning of the year). It might be a good idea to inquire of Alltel or Verizon, as to its availability.

I have faxed successfully using Alltel. You have to do it through a computer but it works reliably.
