Ok,,,,probably done before,,,,but please vote for you favorite carrier,,,,i'd like to hear everyones opinions! Rate who you think is the best! Here's mine.... 1. Alltel 2. Cingular 3. USCC 4. Verizon 5. Sprint 6. Nextel
Asking a question like that not always the smartest thing to do since people might start flaming each other The 'best' carrier depends on each individuals' usage, the wireless companies' coverage and customer service for each individual. Personally, Verizon would top my list, and Cingular would be close to the bottom, but that's me and everyone shares a different opinion, a big factor being where they are located and how each companies' coverage is in the given location.
nextel cingular sprint alltel t mobile verizon course the bias here is that only nextel works in my house (800 MHZ means better range)
i had alltel for 9 years here in eastern north carolina but two years ago i switch to uscc they have much better service than alltel in the east.i have full service bars on my phones in my house with uscc and with alltel i could not use my phone at home. so uscc all the way.
Gee, I wonder why Nextel is way up on that list all of a sudden... Question, why would you put Alltel above T-Mobile, Verizon and Cingular???
The 'best' carrier depends on each individuals' usage, the wireless companies' coverage and customer service for each individual. I agree....just shooting the breeze!
I had USCC in New Hampshire before moving to NC...they were great! They were always putting up new towers and improving their network.. When I moved, I was disappointed I couldn't keep them here...but Alltel has been good in this part of North Cacalackey! I also hear that Alltel is improving their network in ENC....
Ok, Here's my biased list: 1. Cingular - Only one with service @ Mom's house + M2M w/ most of my family & friends 2. Verizon - Can you hear me now? Sometimes 2.5. T-Mobile (Fine if you're only in urban areas) 3. Sprint 4. Nextel 5. Alltel (No service here) 6. USCC (No service here)
yeah, I only heard of USCC when someone told me they had it a few months ago, cellular one I thought was long gone till my friend in Pittsburgh saud she had it, and alltell was like the last option in tucson when I lived there... I really liked At&t.. had then from 1999 till the merger.... much more customer friendly than cingular, to me... I always wanted Nextel, just could not justify it till the merger on that one...
You are surely right about that! Prior to the Sprint/Nextel merger, Nextel was not that high up in your list. I honestly think this thread is pointless. All carriers have different scores depending where you are. For instance, here in my area Cingular and Verizon are tied for #1. The rest are a distant 3rd. There isn't a 2nd place.
Here's my biased list, since I use my phone worldwide: 1. Cingular (largest roaming footprint USA & Non USA combined) 2. BT (used by cingular in France) 3. SFR (used by cingular in France) 4. Vodafone (used by cingular in UK) 5. Tmobile (used by cingular in Germany) 6. Verizon (only if I had to; limited to no use outside of USA)
I would say your #6 is incorrect. Buy a Samsung A790 from Verizon and you can roam on any GSM network overseas that Verizon/Vodafone has an agreement with. As for the Americas, pretty much every country has CDMA the A790 can use, from Canada down to Argentina.
THANK YOU! BT blew away others in France, but no one else seems to have that conlusion, until you! 1. Cingular- Can't think of *any* dead zones in my state. Plus, it works better in rural PA, MD, SC (Myrtle Beach), and AZ than Verizon. 2. Verizon- Bad coverage in my state, but mostly everyone has them anyway--good for m2m. 3. T-Mobile- Coverage improving, excellent in metro areas. Cheap! 4. Sprint- Good coverage where I go, but I don't like their phones/plans. 5. Nextel- Good coverage here, but it echoes and drops calls a lot. 6. Alltel-- They SUCK in Myrtle Beach, SC.
For my area it is: 1. Nextel/Sprint - Both have great coverage Nextel is better in Fort Mohave, Mohave Valley which gives them the edge. 2. T-Mobile/Cingular - Lucky for Cingular they can still use the network they sold, or they would be SOL. The network dose get over loaded from time to time. And they do have some weak spots around the area. 3. Verizon/Dobson/Mohave Wireless - Verizon leads the pack, but I have to put them all together because they all cover one side of the valley, not both like the carriers above. Cingular could be in this bunch in the future, as they don't have a network on the AZ side. Verizon & Mohave roam off each other, and Dobson roams off of Cingular.A phone will flip flop a lot between the two networks and downgrade the quality of service.
What the heck, I'll chime in with my ultra-biased list :browani: : 1) Verizon 2) T-Mobile 3) Sprint 4) Nextel 5) Virgin Mobile 6) Boost Mobile... Hmm, can't think of any other carrier...:headscrat Oh, wait, I think there is another one...If I remember correctly, their name is Singlebar or something like that, but it's not really important since their non-existent in my area...:dunno:
:lmao: Singlebar? I've never heard that before, how funny. 1. 360 Communications 2. AirTel 3. Omnipoint 4. Voicestream 5. AT&T Wireless 6. McCaw Cellular 7. Vanguard Cellular Systems 8. CellularONE-Western Wireless 9. Ameritech :browani:
Yes, Alltel is pretty bad at Myrtle Beach...this is weird! You'd think they'd make there a priority. Everywhere else I have gone on the coast they have been pretty good though, including Atlantic Beach, NC, Charleston and Hilton Head , SC and Savannah, GA.
Hmm, don't know about that. From what I'm told, that A790 is only available to business customers, not general consumers. Does anyone know for certain? In the Bahamas, it seemed only GSM was available, or at least american CDMA users didn't have service. And it is only one phone........ugh! Anyhow, the point is that most people wind up getting a triband or quad without thinking about the future or their travels...that is a big plus. And when they do travel, then they realize that they only have to activate, for no fee, international roaming...no new phone to buy.
Well here in West Knoxville these are my picks and i have tried them all. 1.Sprint 2.Nextel 3.Cricket 4. US Cellular 5.Verizon Cingular just plain sucks in my area.
Ok Since in my hometown your can get a roaming signal with Verizon, Sprint, Alltel I should have them on my list, but I will do any older list. #1 US West Cellular (agentHibby, Andy84094 ,WiggyFife, others use the network) #2 Comcast Cellular (viewfly, and Airb330 others use the network) #3 Sprint PCS (Larry will always use this network) #4 Ominpoint (because Matt uses this network) #5 McCaw Cellular because (TNDan uses this network now) :cool2: In all honesty The best provider gives you a plan with the minutes you need at the right price. The coverage that you need to make calls all the time.
You have to be kidding me with that list. Verizon definately has the best coverage in the Knoxville area and Cingular is quite good. I will agree with you that Sprint has VERY good coverage in the metro Knoxville area though. Cricket better than US Cellular and Verizon though? I wanna know what you are smoking if you think that's true. It must be some good ****.
Sorry dude.. I have a Sprint phone and a Verizon phone right now.... and wow is your list wayyyyy off. My two best friends' houses have 0 Sprint coverage and 2-3 bars on USCC and Verizon. Seriously, can I have some of what you're smoking? Cricket is by far the bottom of the list in coverage AND voice quality. How can you rank a carrier that doesn't cover past Halls and doesn't cover a large portion of Chapman Hwy above any other carrier in this area? Let's not forget that everytime I talk to someone on a Cricket phone it sounds like they're talking through a pillow. Everytime I see you post, you're always yapping about how perfect Sprint is and how everyone should choose them over other carriers. Note that I also have a Cingular phone and get better reception at my best friend's house than with Sprint as well. Oh, don't forget that Sprint has no coverage on Hwy 321 through the Townsend and Wear's Valley area. Did someone forget that's included in the Knoxville area? If you're JUST considering West Knox, then it's basically a wash. Cingular has a rough (1-2 bars) spot on Robinson Rd and Joe Hinton (0-1 bar). Sprint isn't so hot off Chert Pit rd (my friend lives in Westop subdivision). I haven't found any really really week spots with my Verizon phone yet although I'm sure there's going to be one or two. Needless to say, your list doesn't exactly seem unbiased. Just curious, did a Verizon rep or a Cingular rep sleep with your boyfriend/girlfriend/wife? Did they do something else to make you mad so you feel the need to talk about how bad they suck? So here's my list, though I know absolutely nothing about Nextel's coverage so I'm leaving them out. Verizon USCC Sprint Cingular Cricket (a distant last place)
Sprint fixed the major capacity issues in the Atlanta area finally? That was always Stanley's (roamer1) big gripe about Sprint... very bad cell breathing due to the network being overloaded.
