I was getting my a900m fixed (which is still acting stupid), so I was using a nokia GSM Gophone that I got for $10. My god the sound quality was horrible. Pops, dropouts, and echoes. I used to love Cingular, but this was pretty pathetic. Mind you, it sounds fine out in the boonies (at&t was the only service available), but out and around Newark and Wilmington (places with population) it was incredibly bad. Is half rate more prevalent now or something? I wonder if WCDMA has stolen too much spectrum here (though I think it's PCS only)?
I think it's the phone, I had crystal clear calling in Newark, Wilmington & points between to Dover as well as in Dover.
Yeah, some of those really cheap GoPhones are of lousy quality, even from Nokia. I guess they're pretty sensitive and not very refined...
I am not sold yet on the audio quality of my iPhone with Apple. I like having my iPod tied into my phone and I like hacking into the OS and customizing it. But I think the RF sucks on it, I need to run some tests on it and purchase a backup GSM Phone to test against.
