I see there are a few regulars without custom avatars - let's see if we can fix that. Can I help any of you with getting an avatar installed? Maybe find an image and size it?
I've used my Grimmy avatar (from Mother Goose and Grimm) that I personally animated for some time now. I'll need to decide what's next. I've just always gotten a chuckle out of the "blue tooth" reference.
So I did end up uploading this revised animated GIF of my cat spinning on a deer statue. I checked the file by viewing it with Chrome (as a browser-displayed image) and it works. However, when used here it only shows the first image. What gives?
@Jay2TheRescue great pic for an avatar! @KevinJames send the image file to webmaster@wirelessadvisor - I'll try to figure out why it isn't working.
@Scrumhalf - your new avatar is excellent! I have a twenty year old All Blacks shirt that I'd forgotten about. I just dug it out to get it back in the mix.
@JFB - I had a similar problem on a forum that I help run. It turned out that there was a filesize limit for animated GIF's as avatars. I increased the limit, re-uploaded the avatar, and it worked afterwards.
@KevinJames the problem is the image processor. When you upload an avatar, it creates 3 sizes for use in different places. The animation doesn't make it through that process. There is an option to use a different processor (the same used on the old forum), but I've had trouble making that work on these forums. I'll try again, but it will take some time because I have to get the hosting company involved. One possible thing to try is for you to upload your animated avatar in the exact size 192x192. The animation might work if it doesn't have to be resized by the image processor.
Actually, now that I'm using it, I noticed it is very distracting when trying to read posts I've made. Bummer. My cat only does this about once very other month. She will "mount up" facing backwards and then spin around to face forward and then rub her chin on the deer's ear. Definitely "cute."
