I just found out about some FANTASTIC AT&T Wireless rate plans on their new GSM/GPRS network in Chicago! For $59.99 and a 2-year deal you can get: - 1500 Peak minutes - 3000 N/W minutes I've seen a couple of reviews on the new ultra-cool little Nokia 8390 and they have been quite good. I'm waiting to hear some reviews on the Color Tri-band GSM/GPRS/Bluetooth Ericsson T68.
Even though Ericsson had previously left such a "bad taste in my mouth" from their lackluster phones and quality, I've got to admit I'd like to get my grubbly little hands on that one. Though I figure you are asking for actual owner reviews, but here is Phone Scoop's review: http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?id=116 And the Chui Review: http://www.howardchui.com/nuke/sections.php?op=viewarticle&artid=64
Kenny you think that they will bring a similar rate plan to areas without the gsm network in place yet. Jack
Hmmm...I really don't know. It'll be interesting to see how they combine the GSM and current (TDMA) rate plans for those who need the nationwide GSM+TDMA access with one of the up & coming GAIT phones.
I was reading an article in "Wireless Review" about GAIT phones. Don't expect to have many phones to choose from. Motorola will NOT be manufacturing a GAIT phone. Nokia will most likely only have the 6340. Hman
Hman, you forgot about the Sony/Ericsson T62u and the Siemens S46. 3 decent GAIT phones to choose from would suffice for me over the course of the next 1.5 years as the GSM network is being built out. From then onwards a GSM-only phone would be just fine.
I'm not sure on the T62u, but the S46 is not a true GAIT phone because it does not support AMPS. Hman
Yes the Sony/Ericsson T62u will also support Analog. It will also support GPRS. You never know what surprises lie ahead...as I just mentioned in a post in the other forum (Phones, Handsets and Accessories), NEC just announced a Quadband GSM phone -- something that came out all of a sudden and surprised many people. Well we'll see what happens.
