It can't receive normal texts (but texts to XXXXXXXXXX@txt.att.net works just fine.) My friend on Verizon can receive my texts but I cannot receive his to my number but I can to the txt.att.net. I don't know if it is just his phone or all Verizon phones because everyone I know has ATT. He can call me and I can call him just fine. MMS is disabled on my phone.

Anyone have any ideas what is going on and/or how to fix it?

(posted for a friend, don't be confused by my stats to the left)

About the only thing you can do is contact at&t customer service (1-800-331-0500) and have them check your account routing for SMS service; have your friend on Verizon do the same with Verizon's customer service. Unfortunately intercarrier texting issues are hard to resolve as both carriers tend to point the finger at the other one; plus there is a third party involved in the process as well (Verisign, I believe).

If you had more information to provide it might better help pinpoint where the problem lies, but if you only receive SMS from other at&t customers (receiving those fine) and one Verizon customer (not receiving them), it's hard to say whether the issue is more likely on at&t's end or on Verizon's side (or in the middle).

Also if you've ported your number to at&t recently, it can take a little while for the changes to catch up; and incoming SMS from other carriers seems to typically be the laggard - probably due to the third party involvement in updating databases, etc.

first you have your intercarrier profile checked... then you have the VZW person have theirs checked....there is ONE company (mobilespring) that takes care of ALL inter-carrier texting... to have your profile checked it has to be done at the technical sypport level... not the customer care level

I get texts from their users all the time. As somebody suggested call customer service.
