For the best service in Manhatan the winner is.....Verizon...period end of story.

Tmobile can't cut it, i here complaints about them all the time. ATT TDMA on the other hand is in second place.

Verizon has better coverage, but I suggest you check out T-Mobile's trial period and see if it works where you need it. If it does, then I'd go for it, because the plan minutes and phones are far better.

verizon is number 1 in nyc in terms of coverage....att TDMA not next generation(gsm) comes in second....verizon plans are a bit more expensive...if t-mobile works for you then get that...just make sure you go INSIDE all the buildings you would normally do and USE YOUR TRIAL PERIOD!!!!

How about Cingular Preferred Nation for 300 anytime minutes, 5000 Night and Weekend Minutes, a free phone and No roaming for $29.99?

just remember you can get roaming on the "prefferred" nation. once you hit a non "preferred" roaming partner your hit with charges. Readthe fine print and dont let any cingular rep tell you different.

I agree that Verizon is #1, but until you get and try all of your options, utilizing the Trial Periods, and go INSIDE and ALL AROUND THE BUILDINGS AND PLACES YOU ALWAYS TRAVEL TO AND WILL NEED YOUR PHONE IN, you will not know exactly who is best for you. I would try Verizon and see. The Motorola v60i is a great phone, also is Moto V120e.

IN my area, the Cingular preferred Nation plans would be my choice, if, IF their network was here.

I have a "local" plan (which deosn't even include MD.!!) and the phone is "roaming" all the time, on ATT
Thank goodness it doesn't effect my billing. Cingular seems to have (but again, here) 1) weak network placement, 2) insufficient capacity. Too bad, as the Cingular Network sounds much better.

    Otherwise, I'd stay with them.

That would be actually using Tmobile's network in the city and there network in the city is ..ok...but Verizons lets me make phone calls in more elevators and basements.

Again, until you try it, in the places that you know you'll need it, or want it, you won't know. Don't go by just the plans, because if they give you a lot of free minutes, it won't do you any good if your phone won't work [IMG]

I know a ton about AT&T...and at their current state, GSM in the city is a NO-NO. Otherwise, their TDMA is fine and very good at penetrating through buildings. If you don't like that, go for Verizon 2nd.
