I tend to see a lot of the AT&T billboards near other carriers boards on the side of freeways. T-Mobile's boards often tout how they have "The fewest dropped calls in Los Angeles"...
Strange, around here, cablevisions optimum online uses "the nation's most advanced fiber-optic network" Verizon and Cablevision are in a fierce battle in the tri-state area, youd think one of them would have sued the other for using that line by now. Though in all fairness, cablevision used that line long before fios came around.
The ads on billboards and TV are all over Eastern PA. Favorite Cell Commercials: T-mobile with the secret lovers song Verizon- with the who are they mafia commercial Just saw the Roger Clemens ATT commercial where they don't advertise fewest dropped calls. WORST CELL COMMERCIAL EVER- When cingular was an unknown in NJ and they had an ad for the superbowl with a mentally retarded artist jumping around and then jumps in the air and forms the cingular logo.
That is correct. Also when ever Verizon tries to one up Cablevision, cabelvision takes a better leap.Ithink Verizon is backing off on competing with Cablevision as this can now besen in their rates and them not being as aggressive with direct comaprisons. This is going to be the norm with the cell providers. Sprint tooka&t on with the data a couple years ago and they only had that for a couple of months and now they are doing the same. With what at&t is building the data speed is going to belong to them for a while untill the others come up with an upgrade that puts them acouple leapsahead. The voice side, it is all gioing to be nothing but sugar coating for each of the providers.
I prefer the Alltel commerical where the (then) sprint guy pops the head off the cingular logo and bowls it down the lane.....
AT&T to Drop "Fewest Dropped Calls" Claims ... "..Following a Better Business Bureau investigation into Cingular's (now AT&T's) "fewest dropped calls" ad campaign and a protracted legal fight with Sprint over the issue, AT&T is reportedly dropping its claim, according to an employee. Turns out, the assertion was never really true, and was based on only a small part of a larger Telephia report. As a whole, the report notes that AT&T Wireless did not have the most reliable network in places like New York, Chicago, Houston and Los Angeles, according to Broadband Reports. Recent studies from Consumer Reports and JD Power mirror these findings, and have placed Cingular/AT&T at or near the the bottom of their rankings for reliability and satisfaction."
Re: AT&T to Drop "Fewest Dropped Calls" Claims ... As if this wasn't bad enough, Rogers in Canada advertises both the "Fewest Dropped Calls" and the "Most Reliable Network" in Canada. LOL! Fido, on the other hand, advertises the most minutes and they also have "My Faves", where you can call up to 8 friends unlimited anytime. Sounds a little better than T-Mobile's. I wonder who copied who.
Re: AT&T to Drop "Fewest Dropped Calls" Claims ... Wow that's funny & I wonder who did copy from who? Wasn't AT&T Corp. (the original) part owner of Rogers at 1 time?
Re: AT&T to Drop "Fewest Dropped Calls" Claims ... Wow, I had forgotten all about that. I believe it used to be called Rogers AT&T Wireless?
Re: AT&T to Drop "Fewest Dropped Calls" Claims ... Yes that was it and I beleive the interest was sold off just before the Cingular take over of ATTW.
Re: AT&T to Drop "Fewest Dropped Calls" Claims ... That's right. It was Rogers AT&T. But the ownership belonged to AT&T Wireless, not AT&T Corp. BTW, I'd like to correct myself. I just saw the commercial again and it is Telus Mobility who's offering My Faves in Canada, not Fido as I said before.
Re: AT&T to Drop "Fewest Dropped Calls" Claims ... Rogers bought Fido. And couldn't Alltel sue Telus if they are using the same name?
Re: AT&T to Drop "Fewest Dropped Calls" Claims ... Thanks for the correction on which one partially owned Rogers, I wasn't 100% sure.
Re: AT&T to Drop "Fewest Dropped Calls" Claims ... Rogers bought Fido, but they still advertise their brands separately. I don't know what the deal with that is. Alltel cannot sue Telus for two reasons: 1) They are not in the same country, 2) They don't use the same name. It is T-Mobile that uses the "MyFaves" name in the US. Alltel uses "My Circle". So even T-Mobile could not sue Telus simply because they are in two separate countries and therefore not competing with one another.
Re: AT&T to Drop "Fewest Dropped Calls" Claims ... Trademark infringement is not limited to a country. You can't have Coca-Cola® snagged by another product in another country. Trademarks are international in scope. Whether or not the trademark holder wishes to uphold their trademark is another matter. Cingular and Flexcar used the same exact symbol "jacks man" and there was never any big deal about it. For one Cingular is in a whole different business than Flexcar. My Faves on the other hand is referring to the same sort of product.
Re: AT&T to Drop "Fewest Dropped Calls" Claims ... This is exactly what I thought. I bet the US carriers got a little something from their Canadian counterparts to use the "My Faves/My Circle" names and/or likenesses.
Re: AT&T to Drop "Fewest Dropped Calls" Claims ... I've been seeing the commericals non-stop here in Buffalo. Rogers is calling it My 5. Fido is running commericals saying that a lot of their phones get 7 hours of continous talk time.
Re: AT&T to Drop "Fewest Dropped Calls" Claims ... That depends. If the product has international scope, like Coca Cola, then it would be a problem. However, T-Mobile's My Faves is not a product with international scope. The T-Mobile brand, on the other hand, is international, but not My Faves. For T-Mobile to be able to claim anything against Telus over My Faves, they would have to register the "My Faves" brand in the same jurisdiction, in this case, Canada. However, I highly doubt they did since T-Mobile doesn't have service in Canada. You can bet that Telus has the rights to the "My Faves" brand registered in Canada.
Re: AT&T to Drop "Fewest Dropped Calls" Claims ... As an aside, T-Mobile is launching myFaves in the UK and Germany later this year....but that's slightly OT.
Re: AT&T to Drop "Fewest Dropped Calls" Claims ... that's almost funny, i live right outside the 3re largest city in ky and i can't get t-moble 42355
I noticed a New Billboard today by the Spooky Tower (The worlds tallest water tower) & it has the "More Bars in More Places" logo on it & no mention of the fewest dropped calls. But I noticed they are showing the commercials where 2 people are talking & on a critical moment the call drops, but now they make No mention of the fewest dropped calls.
I've noticed the latest batch of AT&T commercials feature the "More Bars in More Places" advertisement. This is one tag line that's actually true in SoCal. I can't remember the last place I went to locally where I didn't have a full signal. They must be doing something right.
There are still alot of billboards here with the fewest dropped calls wonder when they will change lol.
