AT&T will get it first, but it looks like there will be a bit of 1700 MHz new 3G love for T-Mobile too. BlackBerry Bold officially announced! | The Boy Genius Report
Nice smartphone! It also looks like all the carriers will get a version of it, with AT&T being first in line.
This new Blackberry seems awesome. I was debating to get a Blackberry Curve or not. But now, I'll just go with this Blackberry. What I like mainly is the Wi-Fi and GPS.
Would you need to? Won't the Sprint version be EV-DO? Sprint has better 3G than T-Mobile will have for a while.
yeah thats true but Sprint got the Blackberry Curve recently and we all know that Blackberrys go to GSM companies first and CDMA companies get them centuries later......i just upgraded to the Samsung ACE and I love it......im banking on getting this when im up for another upgrade in 2010
Hmm, I am glad that I did not get the Curve. This seems to be in line with the other rumers about the new iPhone which would propably make it intersting to choose between the 2. However, with me, the BB will most likely win.
yeah i dont know......the Rev A is pretty fast and i'm sure that once Sprint reconstrusts its core data network to get rid of bottle necks itll be faster yet
Check with your carrier on actual availability of GPS, even if RIM says it's in there. My BB 8830 supposedly has GPS, but it's disabled by Verizon unless you subscribe to their "VZ Navigator" service for $9.95/month. This means that even though Google Maps for Mobile can take advantage of GPS hardware and my phone has such hardware, this function does not work for me. Even if I paid extra, I'm not sure that GPS would work in GMM, since Verizon wants me to use their app, where they probably sell ads or get kickbacks, etc. SW
Now we are veering somewhat off the thread topic, but I think Verizon's "openness" is a work in progress. It definitely doesn't mean that you can use all the capabilities of the phones they have today - even Blackberries which are harder for them to control than some other phones. SW
i would think anything that isnt their firmware is hard to control because its very hackable and relies on the manufacturer for updates to close loopholes.......with their firmware they can change something quickly.......Windows Mobile looks to be the hardest to control
I have not heard of any one being able to activate the GPS on the VZW version. Many loaded the OS of other similar models for Blackberrys and that did not help.
